I think it was mentioned somewhere, but don't want to go digging for the thread.

At any rate, it's FANTASTIC news -- one of the all time classics, with Leo and awesome cast.

Can't wait :)

Great news, definitely looking forward to the film.

“It’s not that much bigger than a standard film camera,” he said, adding that the EPIC also allows shooting hand-held or with a Steadicam.

Not much bigger, eh?

He's definitely referring to the 3D rig.

He's definitely referring to the 3D rig.

He's referring to a fully kitted-up 3ality Digital TS5 system with EPICs. ; )

Having been deeply involved with this project for some time now, I can say that I honestly believe this project will dramatically change how the public feels about S3D Cinema. Seeing how Baz & Simon approach 3D is inspiring. They are making a true 3D movie, not a 2D movie that will happen to look good in 3D. Everything they do is built from the ground up with stereoscopy in mind. For obvious reasons, I can't talk much about the feature. But I am very excited that 3ality Digital will be a part of this movie.

Best,

Lucas

Just checked IMDB ... pretty stoked this will be out released next year, along with so many of the other big Epic features (November 2012 for this one).

The Great Gatsby in 3d? Who thought of that? Crazy.

Seriously. I'm interested to see how some of these new features using 3D turn out, given that until now it was pretty just used for action movies and nature docs. If used correctly, maybe it will be an incredible new tool of cinematographic expression? Or maybe it will always be a gimmick to get people to pay an extra four bucks. I'm interested to find out.

After reading other quotes about the beneficial use of 3D for serious dramatic scenes, I'm interested to see this in theaters both ways. Hopefully this will receive the 3D as art, rather than the 3D as gimmick, treatment.

Jared posted this in RECON a couple of days ago. Great news!!
