Help indie filmmaker and fellow RED fanatic, Sandy Collora make "Shallow Water" --

Hey all,

Sandy Collora here, director of "Batman Dead End" and "Hunter Prey"... Just thought I'd post this in here for all you REDheads;

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1892798596/shallow-water-a-monster-movie-by-sandy-collora

It's the kickstarter link to my new project called; "Shallow Water", a hardcore, old school, gritty horror film, that I need some help to get financed. This is an important project in the sense that modern horror is becoming too reliant on marketing hooks and gimmicks. I wanna make an old school, straightforward "guy-in-a-suit", monster movie. Why don't they make films like "Alien", "Predator" or John Carpenter's "The Thing" anymore? Films that relied on the talent, vision and ingenuity of the filmmakers to craft moody, compelling and downright scary movies. I feel this is sadly a dying art in the world of genre films and anything you can pledge in support will help... Otherwise we're all gonna be watching sequels and remakes for the rest of our lives.

Thanks so much,

SC

Sandy,

If you have a script, or a long treatment at least, and a budget, and have the script registered with the guild so you are protected, send it to me and I can get it to some of my people in Europe who, from time to time, are looking to finance smaller projects in the US. Shoot me a PM or e-mail if you have questions.

Good luck,

Zac and Steven, thanks so much for the pledges. VERY cool of you-- I know this economy has got everyone's funds stretched to their limits. The truly independent voices in the genre these days, are coming from the grass roots culture. Ever since I got behind a RED and met the people involved in the company, I knew it was a love connection. Moving independent horror films like "Shallow Water" forward, is paramount... We don't want the next generation of filmmakers to grow up on sequels, remakes and most of the mind numbing crap the studios are shoving into the theaters. It's our responsibility to inspire them and leave them with films that feed their imaginations and plant the seed for them to carry on the art form, no matter what the cost...

Thank you,

SC

A bit of back story... Sandy and I are buddies since his days on creating "Hunter Prey" - one of my favorite true indie features shot on the RED... we have a couple of the shots from that movie in one of our RED reels (it's the footage of the aliens in the sand fighting for those that have seen that reel - really fantastic stuff they did on a very limited budget) This movie is so worth seeing when there is another screening of it.

Really excited that his back on the horse with another movie, and he's told me that he's going to be a part of Camp RED, and bring a lot of his special makeup and fx kit to work with the kids during camp... (a real monster make up and sfx pro with these kids making their movies is just going to be fantastic!)

Oh yeah! REALLY looking forward to Camp RED... Gotta start brainwashing these kids early about practical effects!!! I love working with kids. I can't get through to jaded executives and studio heads, but I can capture a child's imagination with making creature suits, practical alien costumes and building spaceship models!!! I'm sure the camp will be a huge success, Ted. Gotta make it an annual thing.
