Hi Guys

im new here so excuse me if some of these has already ben answered "also excuse my Bad English since i'm from Germany"
but there are some things about the Scarlet that i could not find here and they really interest me..

1. Rack Focus/Auto Focus are there any examples of this (i already have seen the video posted in the other threat with the Epic M) if red numerous times that "it is incredible" but could not find any examples?

2. if the Camera is on a Track is it possible to set the Rack Focus Speed in any Way? for example Camera on a track and Focusing on a person looking into a Hallway and the Camera Slowly focusing on the Character in the End of it? The Examples i have seen the Camera very quickly focuses on one and then the other..?

3. is there Any information regarding a Release of The Scarlet (Fixed) in Germany? since import and 19% Tax will get quit expensive for me :(

Kindest regards and Greetings from Germany

Dennis,

Most cine lenses are purely mechanical devices, so they will rack as fast or as slow as you turn the barrel. The video you've seen is probably a Canon still lens mounted on the Epic and Red showing off the autofocus capability. The Redmote (SP?) will have a focusing dial for this function so you can focus at any speed you want when shooting cine footage. I have a Birger mount on my Red One and it works the same way.

There are also various wireless motor systems that will drive a mechanical lens' focus (and iris & zoom) gears.

i do recall some kind of behind the scenes video where someone was using it... if i find it i'll post it. also, i remember jarred talking about it at one point, so you're just going to have to take my word for what it is.

the rack focus seems to be programmable/controllable in a few ways, including the redmote, and possibly/probably some apps for your iphone or ipad, or even your laptop i'd assume. i could be wrong about that. i know you can at least set it somewhere on the camera and use the touch screen to automate the focus pull. all i know is it's going to be cool.

i haven't heard anything about international releases. i would assume everything will be manufactured in USA and ship from california.

Thanks for the Info Guys :) appreciate it hope there will be some new footage soon
