Hi guys, what is the best resolution for web delivery with trade off between quality and easy data management. We'd like to shoot with as low rez as possible to keep the data rates / storage more manageable as it's for web/youtube content delivery so we're wondering is 2k good enough or is it too soft/noisy or is 3k the best possible trade off that comes closer to sharpness of 4k, still has lower data rates but is noticeably cleaner and sharper than 2k?

What's your opinions please?

Oh and same goes for Redcode. Should we shoot lowest Redcode or pick the middle ground and is the detail loss noticeable etc?

I'd always advise shooting 4K unless you are over-cranking footage. There is a noticeable loss of sharpness by shooting 2K IMHO. Ultimately you are going to be using a 1080 workflow of some kind... don't sacrifice original source resolution just scale down in your pipeline using full debayer.

Hi Peter

Avoid shooting 2K, unless you need it for higher frame rates. The image becomes softer, even noticeable for web delivery. 3K is a nice way up though with images much sharper already, but keep in mind you also still lose the wide side of your lenses.
Unless you do extreme color grading, shooting Redcode28 should not be a problem.
But if you have the possibility, I would recommend shooting 4K whenever you can.

Thanks so far guys. Also another question, is it noticeably harder to key greenscreens with 3k as opposed to 4k? This web delivery content will have alot of GS, is it preferable to shoot 4k? What do most people shoot on MX the 4.5k WS mode (is that 2.33 aspect ratio?) or 4k 16x9?
