  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red One Crash...

This is the second time this has happened...

Was either playing footage back on the red, or just had the camera on (not recording), and suddenly the screen says "Initializing..." like it is starting up again... For no reason. Then when it comes back. The white balance is screwed up, the screen is flickering, there appears to be really wierd shutter issues, and the color graph is going crazy... I turn the camera off and then back on and it works again, but of course, I'd rather not this happen in the middle of a shoot...

Anyone else experience anything like this?

Red MX, build 30, (not recording, so resolution shouldn't have anything to do with it...).

I had something similar on a Panavision rental Red MX. The rear Record button seemed really wobbly and sticky - like it was slightly broken inside. We stopped using that button and used the side one, because at one point instead of recording pressing it shut the camera down!

Thanks for the idea, but that sounds completely different.

Not completely different - the symptom was the same!

Other possibilities are a dodgy battery plate contact, a dodgy battery plate cable, a "shark fin" double battery hotswap plate not switching over.

Eric, thanks again, but the buttons on my camera are fine, and the camera "initializes" and then flickers constantly, puts lines through the screen, makes the color graph go crazy, etc...
 
Well, next thing to do is to open that support ticket at Red.com support page!
