This is my First Period piece I shot on the MX and was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for grading. It was basically a no crew shoot but I think it turned out pretty good.

Thanks it was literally just me doing the lighting. Sound guy helped when he could though.....

how long is it?

as far as grading, it really depends on the story and the scenes... at some point you will have to determine an overall look or style. you could make it look like it was shot on older film (color wise and/or texture) or you could determine a look of your own... i would probably start with something that lowers the contrast and saturation. i suggest playing around with a couple select shots in photoshop to determine an overall style.

There's definitely a lot more ways you can go with these shots. Even the small jpgs shows how much DR the lovely Red camera has. Good luck with the project!

Thanks, this is the first Period Piece I shot, first time I actually had a choice either MX or Alexia. This is the 10th thing I shot so far on the MX sensor so I felt more comfortable shooting MX and went with Cooke s2's even though this was the worst bare bones Red Package I ever rented. It should end up being around 12 minutes for festivals, extended cut around 25 minutes. Now just gotta figure out why is FCP 7 always crashing when I'm opening the 4.5k in cam QT proxies?
