Seems like Adobe are now taking on the offensive and following AVID by offering people who want to migrate from AVID MC or FCP to Adobe by offering a 50% discount...

Things in the NLE arena just got interesting.

http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/switch.html

With AVID extending their cross-fire offer for FCP users, there seems little reason why most people shouldn't have all 3 application...

Offer ends 30th September 2011 - using offer code SWITCH

Liam, Yes available in the UK - just use the code SWITCH to get the discount - works out at £754.50 ex VAT or £905.40 inc VAT

Its a worldwide offer. Just change the store to the UK

Can someone of Adobe tell me personally here, why these price differences are just... not reasonable anymore? I was very tempted by this offer, untill I went to the Adobe Store in Belgium. The software costs 1900 euros full without VAT. That's 2700 dollars at this point, that's a 1000 dollar difference with the American store. (60 procent difference or something?)

Sorry, but I'm having a hard time justifiying this...

That's almost free:)

:-) Almost... Stupid not to get it, since I have FCP (not X) and AVID from their cross-fire offer, makes sense to have Production Suite to the arsenal...

More options for clients, less blocks to shooting EPIC-X...

Nice

One could buy FCP X + CS5.5 (Production Premium) at a lower cost than buying only CS5.5.

Well I already have FCP (waiting for decent RED support before spending the £179), bought AVID on the cross-fire offer a few weeks back, and will definitely get Production Premium before 30th September.

Yes, of course. I was referring to users who want to invest in a new editing system. For them, FCP X + CS5.5 would turn out to be cheaper, even if they never use FCP X!

Who would have thought Adobe would be a valid revenue stream for Apple!

All jokes apart, there must be some kind of a clause preventing this?

And the offer will still be good after the new Macs are anticipated to arrive. Very smart! My re-tool could be less painful than I thought.

I didn't think the offer applied to FCPX but 7 and earlier... Or am I confusing it with the Avid discount?

The Adobe website just says Apple Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer. With Avid, you had to submit your FCP serial number as proof, doesn't seem to be anything for Adobe...

This is the very first line of the press release:

Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced an upgrade program for video professionals who have purchased any version of Apple® Final Cut Pro

Will dig into the terms and conditions, wherever they are...

Don't bother, thanks... Didn't read the press release but looked at the website quickly. I thought I was confusing myself!

I love this war across the NLE platforms, I all ready had Avid MC 5.5 (50% off) and now also Adobe Production Premium (multi platform version) for half price.

Now a ton to learn, but i'm loving it!!!

Good buy FCPX!! (witch i also have now sitting in the dock..hehehe)

Hello,

Can anyone chime in from Adobe about making the "SWITCH" payment option for upgrading CS 5.0 Master to C S5.5 Master? I'd drop $275 US for the update but $550.00? Ugh. CS 5.5 came out so soon after CS 5.0 and that was a $900 upgrade from CS 4.0 Master. While 5.5 looks great it feels like a service pack. I suppose I'll eventually get it down the line but it would be nice if you are offering the Production Premium and such for the "switch".

Best,

ATF

Just saved over $900 (including sales tax) on Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Production Premium with this offer. Highly Recommended.

The half price deal isn't for upgrades, nor is it for Master Collection. It is for only two things: full version Production Premium or full version Premiere Pro.

That said, the price of the full version at half off is less than the upgrade price for some scenarios.

For those wondering about the eligibility details, it's really very simple: Enter 'SWITCH' as the promo code. That's it.

Hi Todd,

Can't someone use it to buy Production Premium and then upgrade Production Premium CS 5.5 to Master Collection CS 5.5?
