Years ago I used several Media 100 systems in my shop before moving to FCP. Now that the new
FCP is totally useless for me, I'm looking at alternatives that work right now - Avid, Premiere and
possibly Media 100. Anyone have any experience with the Media 100's latest version on a Mac?

Hi Bob,

I'm the same, used M100 through the mid 90s until 2005 before moving to FCP.

I downloaded the trial and had a play with it. Seems to be the same M100 we knew and loved, but with updated features. The Red support worked but I found it a bit perplexing. For example, it loads via the proxies rather than R3Ds, but allows you to adjust R3D settings. Never really knew if I was looking at fully debayered footage etc.

My opinion is that it is completely functional, and if you love the M100 interface it would serve you well, but you would essentially be on your own. By that I mean it's unlikely anyone around you would be using it so if you are used to sharing projects you may find yourself stuck.

Also, I couldn't get an EDL from M100 to work in RCX, which was another concern.

Having said all that, I was mainly looking at M100's multicam functions, which worked well, but like the rest felt like it was using 15 year old interface methodology.

So if you miss the old M100 then it's still there and still being updated.

Be very interested in your feedback after playing with the trial.
