  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I finally merged all of my different 'Reel' files into one big omnibus file to do a single massive export with running timecode so it can be scored. Running time is around 88 minutes and the bulk of the footage is R3Ds with a lot of linked comps for special effects. When I open this omni project over 3000 objects have to open/link.

The bug I've run into is that the sound from a few of the R3Ds is not opening/linking (and its different files every time). When I try to export the media I get a warning that some of the files are offline and the offline graphic will be used, which is not the case as the video is intact. Fixing this is easy, I just replace the footage with the same file and the sound comes back, the problem is FINDING the bad audio tracks. Aside from the opening/linking failing the secondary bug is that the Status column in the bin shows all the media as Online while the export media process knows better. I have to open each sequence, attempt an export to see if it has a bad link, then visually hunt down the bad audio track if it does (which is not easy when a lot of room tone clips are being used as they look flatlined as well).

Anyone else run into this? Is there a faster way to find bad audio tracks?

If you have a chance can you download 5.5 trial and see if it still happens? We don't have a bug on this. If it is still happening I might have a tester contact you so we can see if we can diagnose. Your situation will be hard to repro in house.

Cheers

Dave

Downloaded 5.5 and although it didn't mess up any of the sound it did completely fail to properly link to all of my Ae 5.0 comps. I do not have the time or cash to actually upgrade at the moment so I'll let this sleeping dog lie.
