Hi
I have a problem with m'y Red one MX, every time i record some Footage, they look good in the camera viewfinder and in redcineX .when i open them with QuickTime and Red alert The Footage are all yellow.i found out That in redalert if i deselect The option "Matrix", The footage become normal, they are not yellow anymore.
Is it a setting i can change in The camera?
And how can i deselect it on all The Footage i already filmed.
Thanks a lot for your precious help.
S.

Redalert does not support the Graeme's new Color Science. So any new footage from cameras using firmware builds after 21.0.0 should be using Redcine-X only for post-processing.

Deselecting "Matrix" may work for some newer footage, but it is not guaranteed - I'd guess with Matrix off (it's only a guess), it's no longer using the Metadata, and you are seeing the RAW look, which is OK for daylight lit footage, but won't be useful otherwise.

Green Footage Problem

Green Footage Problem

there was a problem some time ago when people were having trouble with green footage. It came down to deleting some drivers and reinstalling. I wish I could remember where the Thread is. I'll bet you could search "green footage" and find the directions to correct. I'll guess you use of red alert is part of the problem.

Can we just put a giant "red alert will make your footage look yellow - dont use it" banner when anyone first opens reduser?
I'm getting really tired of dealing with this on jobs.
I'm going to put it on the slate from now on.

Maybe it should be moved to some "heritage" section in the support area.

I was asking it in my head... Didn't want to be that guy. hehehe.

I'm not sure why it works out this way, but apparently the best kept secret about RED post workflow is keeping your software up to date. Shhh... Don't tell anyone else.

Seriously though, RED ALERT and the old QT plugin died a long, long time ago. The latest RED Final Cut Studio 3 installer contains the latest QT plugin and other goodies. You can install them separately, like only the QT plugin, if you don't have FCS3 on the system. And REDCINE-X, specifically build 470 as of today, is the current software tool to use.

Happy to take one for the team.

There was a time I kept REDALERT in the applications folder just for nostalgia purposes. We've come along way in 4 years of playing with RED footage for sure.

R.I.P REDalert.... boy how far we have come :)

I still use RedAlert sometimes. I need a doctor? :-)

I am having the same issue. I shot with the red one before and never had that issue. When i open the clips they all have a sepia tint to them. If i turn off the matrix button on red alert it fixes it. Should i be setting something in the camera?

use Redcine X, RedAlert is discontinued. As stated above download and install the latest red quicktime installer and newest version of Redcine X. You shouldnt have a problem unless they set up the picture settings in camera with tint, if so then just reset in redcine.

To fix it; delete red alert from every computer that you own. Install redcine-x. No more sepia.

What about when i open up the proxies from the folder in my computer. They have the sepia tint. Before i even open them up in redcine x.

Either your QuickTime plugin is outdated or camera picture settings were adjusted when shooting. Either way both are an easy fix. My guess is they viewed in camera as raw so your seeing the raw view in the proxy quicktimes. You can adjust settings in redcine to get a normal picture. Also just go to red.com and download the latest final cut studio 3 installer which contains the QuickTime update.
