  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Does Media Encoder use RedRocket?

They do have the import drivers for Media Encoder, too. I'll see how that work.

Ah, since PP and AME are integrated, one would forget that they are separate apps so they would try to grab a RED ROCKET at the same time but only allow one (unless you have two cards and assign them to each app). Thanks for reminding me.

Hi,

I am currently unable to get my RR working in AME.
I'm doing a RED to Jpeg2000 transcode, and in PP I get a good around 2.3 frames/second, with all cores running around 50%.
In AME, all cores are maxed at 100%, but I only get around 1 frame/second.

I've made sure that PP or RedCineX don't have control of my card.
I've checked the "source settings" of my clip have "Use all available" for the Rocket.
Have reinstalled the ImporterRED.prm and ImporterREDserver.exe files too.
Have latest versions of PP, AME and RedCineX all going.

Not sure what to check next. REALLY need to get this working, as I have over 300-400 separate transcodes to get through over the next few days, so I definitely need AME accelerated.

ANY ideas appreciated.

Matt

OK. a litte more info...

Red Rocket works if I export a RED file with AME.
But it does not work if I export a Premiere sequence composed of RED footage with AME.

Matt

If you're exporting a Premiere sequence, then you need to make sure Premiere has control of the card because it's what's actually doing the processing, not AME.

OK - so I should be doing the opposite? Launching PPro first , launching AME from PPRo, and keeping PPRo open during the export?
Will try it when I get a chance.

I have reply from Todd Kopriva over on the Adobe forums on this...

"For now, you don't. This is a limitation that requires us to add a feature that allows the headless version of Premiere Pro and AME to cooperate in the use of the Rocket."

So, to summarise, for the moment when you transcode a Premiere pro sequence in AME, you can not get RED Rocket acceleration.
