  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Build 1.6.12 just went live in the support section for EPIC-M owners.

This is a pretty substantial firmware upgrade introducing 300fps max record speeds ( 2K ) , Anamorphic support, a massive REDMOTE upgrade, and in-camera black level calibration.

Log into your account to download.. and dont forget to read the instructions.. You need to update both the camera and REDMOTE separately.

This Firmware upgrade is free... as usual. Enjoy.

* REDcode optimizations
* 25p improvements for HD-SDI
* Side handle fw upgrade support
* Force_upgrade now auto-deletes upgrade package after upgrade
* 5K ANA, 4K HD, 4K ANA, 2K WS (high frame-rate record) resolutions added
* HDRx +1 added to selections
* ISO 1250 replaced with ISO 1280
* +/- added to numeric keypad
* New REDMote firmware support (old REDmote firmware not supported)
* In-camera calibration @ default and user settings
* Calibration settings for temp and exposure time displayed
* Additional data rates for 256GB SSD
* UI optimizations
* FPS max speed increased to 300 fps
* Added additional steps to FPS list
* Audio is now packed differently and needs RCX 470 or later.
* Updated fan support
* Network updates
* Improved REDmote communication
* SSD optimizations for high frame-rate record
* Audio jack detect status
* Rig metadata improvements
* Rig metadata status display


Also... 256GB cards are now in stock shipping to EPIC customers. RED.COM.

EDIT: just read the REDMOTE Manual....WTF...i just died and went to heaven! incredible, i dont think i am going to bed. i want to do this upgrade and then go shoot something, if it weren't for those pesky kids needing to go to school tomorrow and that wife of mine...urgggg...just kidding. not sure it will be possible to sleep knowing a camera capable of 300 fps is somewhere close by.

256s are the same redcode limits as 128 and 64.
1.4.x had a slightly lower limit.

Can you tell us more about the Changes to te REDMote and SideHandle Firmware?

[edit: Looking up REDMote Manual as we speak. but would be good to post the info anyway for everyone else]
 
Sidehandle are mostly bug fixes.. the REDMOTE upgrade is something that you guys that have the old versions of software need to really experience....
 
Holy Shitballs, the REDmote upgrade is worlds apart from the old firmware.

You can actually control the camera without having to look at the camera LCD now, and customise the functions you need into pages, kinda like you would on an iphone. Awesome.

Taking the camera out later to a fashion shoot to test the 300FPS hopefully.
 
you can not ^@*#) believe how cool this upgrade is...talk about customization, i am going to need a week to decide how to set up all these buttons that have been pre-programmed in the past. now i can have the redmote start my car, go down the street and fill up the tank, swipe my debt card and be back in 5 mins just by pushing the #7 button on the redmote. amazing! push the #8 and my car will also pick up the newspaper and a 24 pack of sparkletts water and pay the CRV at the VONS down the street, after getting the gas. told you i could not sleep.

seriously 8 buttons + A B C D, i am going to need a laminated cheat sheet on the back of my iphone...better yet, someone please create an iphone app called...redmote quickkeys and charge me nothing for coming up with the idea.
 
Anyone know if audio is embedded with the HD SDI out signal yet?
