  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Stand alone Apple color app is dead?

Good to know. I thought it was odd that they said June release for FCP and July for Lion, though everyone says it's really optimized for Lion. I guess we'll see soon just how much better it is with Lion.

From the give 'em an inch and they'll want a mile department - once Lion and FCPX are in the wild, you have your Baselight plug-in or Resolve or Scratch on Mac plus maybe Smoke and you've got the software side looking good.

Now how about new Mac towers with Thunderbolt and at least 4 16 lane PCI slots beyond the primary graphics card and it's ON!

Cheers - #19

hehehe
nice question?

And, just for the record, I believe FCP 7 and the last Studio was released July 2009.

You're right that's the version that fucked up my system. My timeline still stutters till this day, can't copy and past slo-mo, 3rd party plug-ins worked flawless previous to this version. I can go on! Don't get all ass hurt about Apple neglecting the pro market, it is what it is.

Hmmm - really difficult to parse this all out and connect it in some way. Do all these things have anything to do with each other? :001_smile:

As far as nothing working, have you considered operator error?

FCP7 / FCS3 never worked for me unless I did a fresh install onto a freshly set up system. Install it as un upgrade to FCS2 and you're guaranteed to have issues of some sort.... Just my experience.

Got to see FCPX in action last week. I promised I wouldn't talk about it, so I won't. Not that there's much to talk about, the demo session I attended didn't show us much and the guys running it were unwilling (incapable?) of answering many basic questions that I and others had. It was really kinda odd, didn't show much more than we saw at the FCP SuperMeet / NAB.

For now, as far as RED workflow goes, Adobe CS5.5 is where it's at. There and the impending Resolve 8.0. If you have bigger budgets or working with other post facilities, then you can explore other options like SCRATCH, Quantel, Smoke and many more. AVID MC has some nice features too and the AVID workflow is widely accepted. But it's R3D pipeline is still pretty weak. Better than FCP7, but compared to Adobe or Sony Vegas, it's lacking.

I believe that's the funniest thing I've read on these forums, and incredibly accurate. I'm going to borrow that phrase.

 I think what's funnier is Jeff writing 52 more words after he said he promised he wouldnt say anything! LOL JEFF!
