  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Multiple identical .r3d's being created in folders?

Hello can someone please answer the following questions for me

1. I have shot some various red footage shoots/tests and when I import the footage, some of the folders have multiple .r3d's in them of the same exact file/footage. When I import these .r3d's into the editor it seems it is the same exact footage. Some of the folders have as many as 5 or 6 of the same exact .r3d. Just from my investigative sense, this seems to be possibly generating these .r3d's due to dropped frames or something but I could be wrong. Anytime the Red MX drops a frame, does it generate a new .r3d for the entire shot for some reason?

2. How do I get back the HUD/details on my EVF that showed power usage levels, dropped frames, raw peaking and things of that nature? I've looked in all the menus and can't seem to activate it. The Red initially had all those things in the EVF so that you can see the notification when a frame is dropped, and can see other things like heat levels and power levels all in the EVF. Now my EVF is mostly clear and I've checked almost every menu and can't find how to bring these things back. Someone help me out thanks!

1. This is normal, you won't get an r3d file over 2GB so any clip that goes longer than that will generate multiple r3d which are all linked together. Basically you can pull in whatever single r3d you want and it will just pull in the whole linked sequence.

2. Do you have the Bomb EVF (haha) or the OG EVF?

Oh man thanks so much. That is a big relief LoL! I thought there was something wrong and was dropping frames or something else along those lines because some of the shots that generated multiple .r3d's happened to be dolly shots where the dolly slightly fell off the track and thus shook the Red a tiny bit so I figured the vibration of the shake as the wheel hit the ground from the track maybe caused dropped frames and caused this to happen.

And I have the old huge EVF (this one should actually be called the BOMB cus it looks like a giant nuclear bomb). Any clue how to reactivate all those important listings in the Old School EVF?

System > Setup > Preferences > Display > EVF Menu ...just make sure that's checked. Also, download the RED operations guide ( https://www.red.com/support/all/downloads ) it's got a menu map that'll help you get to know the menu functions better.

Hello, I went through the operations guide and could not find anything. I also went in the menu's and tried checking everything but still can't get those menus to come up. Only clue I have is when my camera boots in the EVF it briefly says "EVF not selected. v.21138b" (or some such number like this)

Anyone have any clue what this error is and why I can't get these menu's? Thanks
