Don't shoot (yet) Just telling a story...
I had an interesting conversation/discussion last nigth with some friends about the new RED cameras and this wonderful forum.
I mentioned that the CEO, Jim Jannard, and other important people from RED are always open for discussion and providing us with the latest information.
They all looked at me if I was from another planet. No way they said. Do you realy think the CEO is talking to you directly ? It's just someone else doing his job on the forum. A man in the middle...

Jim, if you read this, just look in the mirror, smile and have a nice day...

Hahaha. Your friends are clueless.

He he, since it is not common, we forgive your friends, but yeah Jim does spend quite a bit of time on here... ;)

I know, perhaps to much time (if you ask his family), but we love to read his words.

Haha!

I don 't wish to talk for Jim but it is evident from the years spent on this forum that Jim is not just the CEO of a company, he is first and foremost a shooter. Like any other dedicated shooter, is always yearning for the best tool for the job. I think considering Jim's knowledge of cameras, pactical experience of shooting and ownership of an arsenal of image capturing devices, being referred to as a CEO of a company in itself doesn't really present an accurate picture of Jim.

Besides Jim has made some fairly 'emotional' posts in the past and if it was a middleman posting for Jim we may be on the fifth generation Jim stand in by now....Red Six standing by...or should it be nexus six.

I am not sure however how many other members of the RED Team are personal shooters too...

It's true.

We have clones doing email and posting on reduser.

This is why I love Red, because they aren't like other companies who are slaves to "how stuff is done and has been done before".
There is no "truth", they do what they want and some people doesn't seem to handle it.

Not shooting you...
but not EVERY CEO has someone else talk to their customers...

the best way to get customer feedback and speed up the process of being someone in a crowded market is a hands on approach. Hence why RED is where it is right now...if they all laid back, there was no feedback and they didn't give a damn to talk to their customers directly, it'd be very difficult to end up with a camera like EPIC or Scarlet...

Both cameras I'm pretty sure are based on customer feedback of the R1 and general discussions on wish lists etc.

This is why I followed RED when I would hear that they were a "joke" of the industry (who is laughing now!?) Not because Jim speaks on these forums, but its what that reflects...he is making phenomenal cameras because he loves cameras...but he cares about us as film makers and DPs...and it reflects in his low prices for spectacular results...and his dedication here on the forums.

But like Ketch said, we forgive your friends...because it is very very rare, maybe unheard of for a CEO to post on forums, let alone reply to small posts and convos like these.

Just my opinion of Jim based on what I have seen in 4 years watching these forums. :)

The clones take shifts.

You're never alone with a clone :-) ... however, I'm not sure it would be possible to clone JJ ... pretty unique individual ... I'm sure his rDNA (Recombinant DNA) would start to rebel at the mere thought of someone copying his style.

Having worked for a certain Bill Gates, I can tell you now, Jim is very unique CEO running a very unique company.

This sham has got to end. The real Red CEO is finally revealed in this rare and never before seen photo.

And I have a body double who plays me at tradeshows so that I don't have to go.
