Hi All,
Testing is going well with the EPIC. (Not that I need to be testing it as it's already proved to be more than I expected)
The killer test of all cameras is low light tungsten latitude tests.
This test was performed on my desk looking into the back of the room exposing on a projected image on the back wall.
Small 12volt tungsten lights were on very very low, almost candle light levels. Dark in other words!
I shot the image dark on purpose exposing only exposing for the screen on the back wall... So everything else was dark in the room, pretty much as it looked for real.
So the test was to see how much useable information I could retrieve from it, How much noise would come through, how much will the tungsten light effect the image.... etc etc..
Surprise surprise... More information than any of us thought we could ever retrieve, noise was there but completely useable image.
Tungsten issues of old are now just a myth.
I've done this same test on 35mm in the past (and other unnamed digi cameras) and there was no way I could push 500T to this level without grain like ROCKS! appearing and the blacks going muddy as hell.
Anyway... life goes on.
