by the way the EXR's dont look like they should in REDCINE

EXRs are always linear so some parameters are turned off to insure linearity.

I tried opening it in NUKE and setting the color space to Linear but still it doesn't look the same. I cant use it, although i like working with the exr format in NUKE

I also could not get any combo of settings to make exr work in Nuke. Tiffs worked just fine and were the same file size.

Tim

EXRs work fine in Nuke but they will always be linear so they need to be treated in nuke as linear files (which it does by default).

BTW - on a Mac, the 447 Ops Guide PDF crashes Preview on a Mac. The Redline PDF is OK. Happens with the PDF in both the 32-bit and 64-bit Mac folders. Acrobat Pro seems to work with it, but throws up font substitution error messages.

That's what we tried, but no luck. I was trying to put a viewing LUT over it that I made so that I could get VFX back in redlogfilm, but nothing we did made it look correct. Tiffs came in as sRGB (I think) with the 709 LUT on top and worked beautifully.

Nuke will take the tiffs and linearize them vs EXRs which will start out linear.
However the tiffs won't be truly linear as they have the look/curve baked into them.

With the EXR workflow you know you're getting true linear with black a 0.0 in the EXR.
For the matchback we're working on an SDK setting that will let you match back with
RMD from EXR source footage.

When will the 3d convergence option finally be enabled? I am anxiously waiting for this since it first appeared.

So in Nuke I should just set the import settings for EXRs as Linear? The problem was probably that I don't have an application (yet) that can import an EXR for LUT creation. Hopefully when I gat Resolve going I can do that.

It's been working for a long time. All of Spiderman4's dailies were set with it.
Make sure to set a smaller framing rectangle first.

Wow, stupid me. Thanks! Is it documented anywhere? I am not able to see the changes in the viewer (only in side-by-side mode) and can't change the horizontal value, it is locked to zero.

Florian,

The horizontal value will be locked because at least one eye has a crop width equal to the clip source width. Change this and you should be good :)

Set the framing rectangle smaller than the full image for both eyes first.
Then you can adjust the H value.

It's not a keyboard short cut but you know the M and D on the top of the Viewer are toggles for Meta Data and Default. Click and hold on either and so long as the click is held the viewer will display either. Once release your grade will return.
