  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Epic Anamorphic

Which model of Hawks works with Epic? - I think the new V-lite series is 1.3 squeeze which Jarred said there were no plans to support (not that I'm complaining) .... just curious from the guys who have them or plans to get Hawk anas.
 
I shot some lomo yesterday.

Looks great, but I couldn't find a de-squeeze function (or make external monitoring to work...)

Just the first thing I did when I fired it up.
 
Looks like we are moving forward with shooting Epic Anamorphic without the mode enabled for a shoot this weekend... Plan on framing for a 4:3 center extraction and will crop/desqueeze with RedCineX for editorial transcodes... Just have to check how we will color this footage/desqueeze from the 5k .r3ds on the baselight. I suppose WORST case scenario there we would have to transcode to 4K DPX desqueezed files for coloring. Not my ideal, but don't really have a choice at this point.

The only other hitch is dequeezing the image for on-set viewing, I have to rent two extra boxes to allow this for A and B cameras... However that doesn't help me with my underwater housing work. There it seems I'll have to operate off a squeezed image.

Looks like I'm basically a week too early to see a beta version of the 5K ANA firmware.

Major bummer.

Would love to see some Lomo/Epic footage! Please let us know Gunleik if an of it makes it online anywhere.

Spoke too soon (like 10 minutes too soon) 5K ANA here we come!
 
If by Hawks you mean the 1.3x V-Lites, certainly. But they only exist in Berlin and Prague and it's quite costly to rent and ship them out for a project!
 
We've done some tests with our lomos and epic, looks great. Obviously cropping at the sides, but 5k 98fps on lomos is very cool

Looking so much forward to this firmware update.

Our LOMO set and TOYOs are drooling over the cameras, longing for some action on EPIC M 468 and 575.

Right now QTake is doing its thing for our desqueeze monitoring and framing up.
 
Here's a question... Has anyone checked the max. frame rate capable in 5K ANA? Seeing how we can shoot 120fps in 5K 2:1, I was curious...
