Hi,

The University I work for has both a Stanton Jimmy Jib and a Red Camera. I've been able to balance run the Red off our jib, but we don't have any way of controlling the focus, zoom or aperture. Does anyone know of a package or rig currently for sale that would allow the two to work together?

Thanks a lot,
David

Why can't you use the Jimmy jib stuff to do that? Which model jib do you have? You can get a 32pitch gear for the jimmy jib focus motor, and iris motor. Zoom you would need a microforce or something similar as the jimmy jib control just controls servo zooms. For simplicities sake, I usually use bartechs to do focus and iris on the jimmy jib with red.

Nick, the Jimmy Jib gear we have is for broadcast Canon/Fujinon lenses (the focus block mounts directly to the lens and the zoom control attaches to zoom servo that's a part of the lens), and I don't know how we could mount what we have to the rails of the Red. If anyone has done it or knows of a way, I'd love to see it.

Thanks Douglas. I guess I should call them though, because the only lens controls they had on their website are the same type of direct-mount that we already have. I'm still not sure how to get either controls attached to the lens or rails.

Sorry Nick, I forgot you asked which type we have.. We have the Triangle model that extends to Super Plus

I think you need to put a 15mm rail adapter on the front of your camera, or attach the zoom/focus/iris motors to the rails that you have.
I make a lightweight rod adapter for the front of the RED. Then you need to get your motors to clamp to the rods. Jimmy Jib may make a 15mm rod clamp for their motors.

Call STanton. I just looked at their website, I don't think it has been updated in 10 years ;-) I couldn't find the stuff, but they sell it. You buy their cinema focus and iris set, you would need dog legs and or adapter to get them to fit on 15mm or 19mm rods. PM me if you can't figure it out, i'll send you pictures and help you out if I can.

Nick

Thanks a lot Nick, I'll give it a shot and let you know what I find out. I'd love to see pictures of it for sure
