  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

nearly 8K LCD screen

Wow.

Go to any video shop in Tokyo, and you notice one stark difference with other countries. BluRay is still not that popular and DVD still dominates. Strange for the country that basically invented the technology.

We have only just made the full transition to HDTV. In a country with a massive proportion of elderly who will not buy new tv's I wonder how 8k is going to go over.

I have a feeling that this is NHK saying it will commence 8K broadcasts in 2020... Which makes me wonder how quickly it will be adopted industry wide.

I have a feeling that we won't see it till much later than that.

May history prove me wrong, however.

According to a Japanese release (now on the Wikipedia site too) 2016-2020 was the general release period for "home users"... Which to me indicated testing would be over...?

Craig:

I just visited ultrahdtv.net which said the same as you and the video - 2020 trial broadcasts

I stand corrected :)

Maybe it will be same like with their first HD technology which was all analog and took bit longer when it really started implemented worldwide - but it must changed to digital HD. But it was very good impulse for change.
