Hi

Just to share my interest in old glass.

I just got an Ekran Highspeed 14mm T1.6 from 92" on ebay after 4 years of a looong wait. I'll post some test shots next week. Or more, if the lens needs services.

That means I have now a a nice set of Ekrans with the latest housing -the nice looking one- .And with iris not directly on the front filter but a bit more on the middle like the other

14mm T1.6
18mm T1.6
35mm T1.3
50mm T1.4

My questions are :

I had a the big CKBK 28mm T1.4. Sold now for a strange, little and older CKBK.
I've heard of the 28mm Highspeed EKRAN once.

Does someone own it here ? I'm planning a trip to russia to get lenses, via some russian DPs I've met who litteraly have rooms full of Lomos.

About the 75mm Ekran, someone know is there a version with a later housing ?

Can't help on the Ekran - but this sounds like a good chance to build up more glass! Lomo-tastic :001_smile:

Even though I sold all of my ekran/lomos (well the good ones anyway), I still look at ebay to see what's out there. It's still an obsession.
I've never seen a 14mm ekran, congratulations Berenger.
If you ever need replacement elements for a 18mm high speed ekran, let me know. I bought one with a bad rear element but the rest of the lens is perfect. Or look out for a rear element in Russia for me. Good luck!
Regards,
Shane.

IF you see a 22mm MKBK I'd be very interested. I've got everything else MKBK in PL and it's a pretty cool lens set.

If I understood correctly from a russian DP I worked with, he spoke a poor english. Worse than mine.

CKBK was a lab with its own manufactures, which split in two iduring the 80's, late 80's to be precise.
From here, Ekran produced prototypes for highend series, and strange unique test units as well.
And CKBK produced some highend series. They worked on Lomo standard lenses low-end designs as well.

But considering the look of Shane's 22mm. It's a design that comes from CKBK labs, that was not put in mass production. Mass production products have a different outer barrel, to match their shape and gear (like the 18 35 50 75 100).

Like the 28mm CKBK, the big one. If you unmount its outer barrel, you got a lens that look like your 22mm. I've got prototype 28mm like that.

@Shane, thanks for the 18mm. Mine just got back from True Lens services, so it's pretty much new. But I will ask a rear element ! who knows

You read Russian?
Probably prototype would be my guess.
As far as I know ckbk or mkbk were the central Designing bureau of cinematography. They made prototypes and eventually became ekran in the 80's

Sure, it's my native language:-)
ЦКБ is a standard nomenclature, that usually stands for central design bureau. The last letter K, I figure, stands for cinematography. So, I guess, it was an experimental or a prototype lens.

i have a 14mm F1.5 from AO Optika just bought from RAF. I can hardly find any information about this lens, or even AO Optika itself. I have the 18mm Ekran and the image is just superb wide open. I trust the 14mm Ekran should produce excellent image

Hi

I have it too, it's a very nice lens, not as sharp as the 18mm (best of all ekrans), and colors are different. But overall it's a great lens. A bit more diffusion wide open as the 18m too, but white, and nice.

AO Optika is Optica-Elite, their first units were built with the late Ekran maths.

Does your 14mm have a not really circulare iris ? Mine is litteraly ovale (ovoide ?), anamorphic like, nice bokeh as you can imagine.

Btw, the trip has not been useful afterall. There were only old lowspeed Kinor lenses from 70XXXX to 80XXXX. I was surprised that my armenian DP didn't even knew about the newer lenses I have. I'm wondering how Serguey is doing to find them.

nice shot. about the iris, my Optika 14mm is quite round shaped. do you think that it is very rare in the market? I have heard that it only produce with very few number. Can you tell me more about what you know about this lens. I'm finding long long time for the ekran 22mm fast lens. It is really difficlult to get one. Any chance you have a spare on that can sell to me?

Hi, I've seen only 3 14mm 1.6 :

- 3 years ago, in a camera package.
- And both of ours, on rafcamera ebay account, last May/June.

Very very rare. The 18mm is quite rare too. I got two of them, one sold here, and the others one, pristine, still in my set.

The 22mm come back every 3-4 months on ebay. I have a 22mm for sale but the slow one, with the nice konvas housing.

Just to let you know as many users aske for it since the Red Epic release.

The complete Ekran set covers 5k, with a bit of fall off, but nothing that can't be done with a little grading.
The 14mm is so wide in 5k !
