Small, but it exists. However, there's a more substantial film industry right next door in Argentina and Brasil for sure. When you live in Uruguay, you're practically living in Argentina in terms of culture, language, easy to and from access, etc. Both countries are intertwined in many ways.
BTW, it's Uruguay.

im thinking south america in general... wherever has the best industry really.. this isnt immediate.. more like a few years down the road

Argentina has a relatively small but very talented film community. You could take a short ferry across the river and spend your weekends on a Uruguayan beach home if you wanted. And like Jaadgy points out, it is hard to tell them apart.

Not a lot of pay, but definetly a ton of stuff to learn. ,ind you, we are a heavy iron kind of post house ;-)
