  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New White Paper: Preparing for Final Cut Pro X

Torrey, Do you happen to know how FCP will work with the new Epic footage? Will it be able to work with 5k footage as an R3D? Will you be able to do a 'first light' color grade like you can in AE or PR? Thanks also for the white paper. Great work.

Adam--I'd highly recommend getting the new SCRATCH for Mac from Assimilate when it comes out since it should handle it very well. Not sure about 5k support in FCPX yet.

FCP and Scratch work well together anyway, right Torrey? What would that workflow be ....? Epic --> Scratch (for primary color/cuts) --> ProRes --> FCPX --> Final Grading in Color or Resolve ... or am I off on what Scratch does?

It will be a lot easier when SCRATCH gets released on Mac. You'll be able to use SCRATCH to move EPIC files to ProRes for offline in FCP. Once your editorial is done, reconnect to 5k material in SCRATCH for finishing. Not sure how FCPX will handle native 5k files--if at all.

We're getting some good feedback from the community and will have a few updates to include in a v1.1 revision later next week.

Torrey, I'm still waiting on the rest of my editing system that I ordered. Where is it? I can't get through to you via phone or email, and it's been over a year since I ordered the system now.
