  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

No. of Epic -m's out there....

Apparently, we've now crossed the 500 serial number mark of Epic Ms shipped... A member here has posted pics of him hold #508... And there appears to be no end in sight of Epic-Ms!

Mine is 491 and it went out last Thursday...holding it I can't help but marvel at what an incredible piece of technology!

Well, I got the email middle of last week, and paid up in full!
Can't wait to start shooting on it, I am doing a shoot in Italy in 2 weeks, and was planning to go with Sony... Not any more.

Don't know when it will be coming, certainly hope it's before too long so I can have some time for workflow setup, and I don't know what S/N I will have yet either.

Went ahead and ordered a bunch of lenses too.

Thanks RED team!

Getting my ET Epic riser plate and 15mm front rod adaptor tomorrow -part of their AKS stuff they showed at NAB. This will allow me to actually get some rods on the rig and kit it out as I need to.

Looks like will need an FMJ plate so I can top mount a handle and LCD. Kind of an either/or situation at the moment...Epic is a machined bit of beauty.

Do you think the numbers run through?
I mean are there really about 700 epic-ms
out and shipped?

I cannot see why not...

Remember that the main Epic M buyer has probably a slightly different profile to the first original RED One buyer.

We were a gang of nerdy internet savvy camera-geeks basically buying into a dream.

The most M-buyers are rental houses and larger production facilities that probably don't frequent this place as much as we used to do...

Considering Cameron and Jackson and the Sipderman rig started off with almost 100 units, the Stieg Larson crew probably have a couple by now, all the rental houses stacking up bodies + the occational reduser, I am not surprised if the M's hit 1000 before the first X is out the door...

True enough.

The idea of not delivering sequential numbers is just a bit... Odd...

Jim claimed a while ago that there was allmost as many Epics delivered as Alexa's.

First:
I don't see them here...

OTOH
I don't see a reason to put up a claim like that without being able to substantuate it.

Thus the 700'ish sounds about right...

Bu I know as much as the next guy, so I'll leave it there...

Cheers!

There are probably way more. There were quite a few Ms before we actually heard about it, Jannard said they started in December and Jan so the numbering isn't something to go by anymore since also bare in mind Cameron bought like 50 of them...

obviously he could just end up having like #5000 engraved on it but I'm more looking at the idea that more of the Ms went out before everyone knew...

some high profiles got it to start working with it on major films, getting a lot of tinkering done very quickly so that the public version was just as ready as a beta public product should be, beta being the fact that some things aren't online yet but hey, it's still beyond the beta of the R1 right?

Given this is all speculation and based of piecing together posts, so I could be entirely wrong and that #568 is actually #568, though what happens to the numbering sequence then when you actually fork over your R1 or execute it?
