  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Sorry guys, Ive looked hi and low tonight through this forum, but I'm going to resort to asking out loud.

*Does the RED ROCKET work with the EPIC M R3D's in real time. If not is there a work around or a solution.

*Does RED CINE X (with the RED ROCKET card) work and transcode the EPIC M R3D's. the same as the RED ONE.

*Can you get Audio into the EPIC M yet.

*Has anyone seen playback through the EPIC M camera as yet. if not how can you get instant playback on set from the EPIC M.

I did find an old message from Jim saying that alot of the "M"s function were disabled. Just want to know if anything has been turned on as yet. Like camera playback?

ROCKET does work with 5K EPIC-M footage... really well now.

RCX with ROCKET card does playback 5K R3Ds at 1/2 quality realtime. Transcodes are fast, just a bit slower than 4K footage from a RED ONE.

Audio is in EPIC-M's newest firmware builds.

Playback has not been enabled yet but is next on the list.

Do you have your checkbook ready? :-)

I got dual red rockets. One on a 16x slot and the other one on a 4x slot. Any hope of realtime full for someone like me?

Money is not my problem Ketch... :001_smile: I'd have 10 tomorrow if I could.

But a camera with less than half the functions working, maybe with no RED VOLT batteries, maybe with no evf, maybe with no charger, and maybe only 1 or 2 SSD's... (i understand stocks are low) Does trip me up a little bit as I plan on working it hard day one of arrival on real jobs in the real world. But having a lot of missing accessories does make it hard to justify ... if you know what I mean.
If the whole kit tuns up bells and whistles. Then this conversation is over.

Regardless of all that, I will be sharing true real world feedback. I don't buy cameras to play with. I work them hard and continuously. Just the way Jim intended.

And Guys, I promise you this. I will give you EPIC tests that you can use to sell to your bosses, clients, girlfriends, wives... to help you sell RED for all productions.
I will share workflows that you can do in your laptop ready for cinema.
I'll open Pandoras box!

It will be my Pleasure.

That all said... Lets wait until it shows up. Could be months away yet. I wouldn't have a clue how long EPIC M transactions go on for. and with EPIC X just around the corner? well.....

Mark... I hope your footage is better than your guessing.

We haven't heard anyone complain about the features that are enabled... I'm sure you have been reading the posts. Half enabled doesn't fairly represent the current situation. There are features left to go, but there are enough features to shoot a huge budget movie... several actually. EPIC-M is for those who see "what is"... not "what isn't". If you need every feature, please post now and I'll hold up the shipment.

You will have plenty of accessories to work with. Don't worry about that.

But now the pressure is on. If you don't post great footage... it won't be the camera. :-)
