Hi,

Will the Nikon mount be ready when EPIC X ships ?

Thanks

Antoine

ooohhh..this i would also love to know the answer to! given the delays on the actual production i'm hoping so! otherwise, I hope RED have new electronic lenses...

As I think I suggested before, even if the software isn't ready, the mount should be made available for those who want/need it, to use as a plain dumb mount. The focus/iris functionality can be enabled by an update later, but please don't hold the mount back just because the software isn't finished!

Hey Jean!
How are you Man? ...long time no see :)

Yeah, i agree, even if the software is not ready, at least we could use our Nikon mount lenses.

Would be a pity to receive our EPICs and wait 6 months to use it... :(

Maybe i'm not the only one in this situation...

I know Steve Gibby for one uses a lot of Nikon glass (as do I) -- and I imagine many others who are all hoping it's a front burner project that will soon come to fruition. I think the Canon mount is close to a reality. And I suspect the Red team is aware there's a lot of great new Nikon glass worthy of Epic.

Yeah,

...if no Nikon mount is available, we could use Nikon F to Canon EF adapter...

At least a temporary solution...

Unless there are parts for the mount coming from Northern Japan, I can't see any reason the Nikon mount should be behind the already-late camera. At least I hope so:-)

Sounds about right to me. After all, they've had the physical prototype mount done for some time now... just needing to reconcile the G lenses with the mount. And Jarred once mentioned that even without specific lenses being reconciled, there would be a very useable generic pathway to use. Sorry, don't have a link to his statement.

I can't understand why RED do not give any news about this...

Please Jarred, or someone else at RED, just tell us what's happening.

Thanks

Antoine

Optitek is supposed to make a adaptor to use their Nikon mount on the Epic.

I think the real desire is to have the new electronic Nikon mount that RED is working on so your Nikon lenses will be fully functional with the touchscreen controls. Optitek's mount will not be able to have this feature that I'm aware of.

I wouldn't be so sure. If I can help it that is.....
