Ive had 5k sitting in the red account for almost a year now...

it would be nice to get at least 2.5k of that back and still be able to keep the deposit.

the project has had hiccups, and no dates can be given on when we might be able to pick up.

it just sucks having such a huge chunk of cash in the red account.

Id love to still keep the deposit.. but im at the point where im about to pull the plug and take my money out.

I dont want to do this.. this isnt a threat cuz i know red could care less about my money, its just a financial decision im going to have to make soon.

Your personal issue is unfortunate. Red at this time is dealing with things way beyond their control..so unfortunately as much as you want solid dates.. the reality is, it will be ready when its ready. I'd suggest borrowing money elsewhere instead of losing your place in line.

I don't begrudge the $5000 deposit (even though it was borrowed money I'm still paying back) because it guarantees me an earlier place in line, not to mention the free accessories that go along with it. That said, the way things are working out, it seems Stage 3 may have been the best option.

Zak, you're a great guy and a fellow OC'er (I grew up there) and I know it sucks to have cash tied up, but what if Red called your number today? Aren't there many more costs associated with the Epic ... i.e. the rest of the cash for the upgrade, plus more media, the list goes on. Probably $20k+. Would you just immediately finance that money and then recoup the investment as quickly as possible on rentals/jobs?

Again, I sympathize and I hope that's clear. But just seems like $5,000 is only a fraction of the cost associated with getting your Epic ....

sell silver, buy cameras.

don't wait for the currency collapse because no one will have anything to give you for your silver, anyway. bread and tomatoes, maybe....you'll be happy you have an EPIC to document those historic moments.

june is 40 days away, add another 20 for assembling and the epic X rolls out...(hopefully)
i wish red to succeed and that we all get the cameras + media by then

Aaaaahhh he he, That Sh*t was funny!

Sorry I couldn't help myself. I'm just hanging out with not much too say as everyone has or is saying it. Sure I'm frustrated, but what can anyone do? I went back and looked at the many video clips of Ted talking. This time I tried too look at him more closely... and you can almost see the disappointment on his face. go ahead, go back and look at his face.

Its pretty tough knowing what we all know now. Can you imagine How Red feels right now? How they had planned to bust out and deliver more than they had promised only to be told ... No! You will not!

Zakaree, I have to agree with Gunleik, take up your concerns with Red in private. I have had some dealings with Red and have always kept it private. I have been courteous with them and I have enjoyed some of the best customer service I have ever experience with any of the many companies I deal with (PS is another one of those companies).

To quote Joseph Hutso's signature: "The answer is "No" 100% of the time you don't ask."

I would have thought a lease to buy future contract is what you need to sell, could probably get more than $5,000. Those 2010 dollars you paid with are worth more than todays dollars!

yahhh whatever. I dont really need the 5k right now.. and everyone is right.. that 5k a year ago is actually worth less today so i think its good to just sit there (as long as the epic price stays the same as it did last year:)

Red can keep it longer:) I want my camera :)

be honest I woke up in a weird fog when i posted this...I dont even remember posting it....(Losing my mind)

Glad you came to this conclusion Zak,

trust me, I went with no food back in 2006 and still did not asked for the first 3k reservation money for the 3 R1's.

Recently I was fortunate in off to be able to put, well, quite a bit more in to the RED account, but as things change I almost asked for the funds back,
very glad I didn't get them back cause I know I will be a very happier man... ;)

SO will you!!

Just hung in there a little longer, but make sure that oyu have the rest of the funds ready, cause the "X" day is approaching... ;)

Ketch, you actually type the way you speak. :) I've never seen anyone type their accent before. Well done man.

If you rent an apartment and you provide first/last months' rent when you move in and you receive an interest cheque every year for the interest on your last months rent for as long as you live there. Shouldn't the same be true for money tied up in the Red bank? Even if it only kicked in after deposit/full payment had been held for >6months and even if it was just credit toward Red purchases it would help offset the hit individuals take by tying up their cashflow.

...just a thought.

You're not tying up your cash flow. You've spent that money. There's a difference. Its a downpayment on a purchase, not a deposit on a rental.

The fact that Red is wiling to refund the money if you can't see it through is a testament to their sense of fair play, but it's not a "bank".

haha zak, at least you made your deposit, I want to make one but can't..
Being Stage 3 and seeing these M's roll out is saddening but at the same time awesome...

Upside, at least you don't have more then 5K pretty much gone, yours is safe, unlike mine, which certain individuals haven't decided to give back when they couldn't deliver goods -.- bad times...
