  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC OPERATION GUIDE

I bet 45% is right under the audible boundary, but is there a chance we might get access to lower than 45% stand-by fan speed? Perhaps by having to activate an extreme cold weather mode or something that allowed for lower fan speeds? I am thinking extremely cold shooting conditions, like -20C/-4F while only shooting 24fps. I see the operating range stated as 0C/32F for the low end, but I am thinking of a camera that already has heating pads stuck-on and is already wrapped in a bag for insulation. A slow fan speed might help circulate the air and keep things even, but that is going to be one cool-camera. It runs so cool to begin with. I don't have an Epic to check for apparent CMF at 45%, and anyway the only real way to know is to subject the camera to those exact conditions and check the temp. 0.002

(BTW, can I get an massive NHRA engine temp gauge to display brain temp? I think that would be a nice upgrade. And maybe a second, using a tach as the fps indicator, and the shift light on it as a run-stop Rec indicator ;)

This camera is a dream coming true better than dreamt.

0.02 Could those settings in the System Status screen that aren't "burnt-in" be a different color, like ISO, Kelvin, Tint, FLUT and ColorSpace?

On page 11 there is reference to Canon FD mount. Is this correct? Are Canon EF also supported, or is FD a mistake

Very Nice!
Starting right now...;)
cheers

When can we see something about the Scarlet ? :c

The many videos of Ted running Scarlet running show software essentially identical to what we are seeing in this manual, and I think even the hardware is very similar. We're just talking about different image sensors and different processors. It's basically like looking at the Macbook Air and MacBook Pro - if you know how to use an Air, you know how to use a Pro, even though they are very different internally, and one is much more expensive and powerful than the other.

So this manual was really a big gift to Scarlet fans as well as EPIC fans.

Right, guys?

My only complaint about the manual so far is the ten pages of legal disclaimers before we get to the good stuff! I suppose that's a given in this day and age but it's still a bit sad that our legal system requires so much tedious filler.

Yes, sorry about that, but it's a requirement.

Totally agree - riveting reading!! Love it! :w00t:

The "ambient light sensor" on the Redmote isn't explained. Is that some sort of light meter?

If you look through the comments you will see that if you are on a Mac and using Preview to read it, earlier versions will crash Preview. Updating your Mac to the latest version of Snow Leopard, which you should probably do anyway, solves the problem.

Great reading. Incredible user interface - both GUI and Redmote/side handle controls. Thanks!

Spotted one typo on p.130 ("printed" page number). The page is about HDMI, but you say HD-SDI has 4 channels of embedded audio.
