  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've been sitting back and checking out the forums for some time, and it's hilarious how people are complaining about the Scarlet. Or any of the Reds new gear. Scarlet doesn't have this, Scarlet doesn't have that, Scarlet's boob are fake. Whatever. I think it's rather simple. Just don't buy the Scarlet or have any say what you would like changed about the Scarlet. I'd love to see what reaction you would get if did the same thing for Panny, or Sony, or Si-2k....you'd get noting. Please, complain over there about their gear. Red has a revolutionary vision, and a lot of the people on these threads are bringing it down. We're fortunate enough to have a "say" from the beginning and now it's time we just let men at work do their job and stop fussing. I've got some really great options for you to consider when purchasing the Scarlet, Red and Epic in the future. You guys are taking the Indie out of filmmaking.

1)Don't buy it if you don't like it
2)Buy another camera
3)Become a billionaire and make your own camera
4)Shhhutttyyyy in the mean time.(please)
 
Are you hoping that if you suck up enough to Red you'll get a free camera?

I was bitterly dissapointed when I found out scarlet couldn't make my films for me. Gosh. :)

I agree with car3o.

I don't want to make enemies on my first post on this board, but what people are mostly asking for is the same thing they already make with the Red One.

Scarlet is a different product. If you want interchangeable lenses get a Red One. If you want a tiny cam with interchangeable lenses get an SI-2k MINI.

If you're like me and want a very small camera that produces very high quality pictures with a raw workflow, for run and gun narrative and documentary work, get a scarlet, just like I hope to. :)

Another one of these threads? I think it's all been said at this point - ad infinitum. Time to move on and start discussions about potential Scarlet refinements and ask questions to get more clarity on it's design.

No, no, no... this is a thread about proverbs.... it has nothing to do with the camera... :-) ... actually these threads are lot more entertaining than the ones on "how-to-improve-the-camera-we-know-absolutely-nothing-about".

Ah, my bad! Sorry for the confusion :)

Indeed this thread has morphed into something quite entertaining.
 
The point for us wheels is to squeak enough to get what we want (such as Auto Focus, built in mic, image stabilizer, etc) but not to have a bad attitude and have Jim refuse to sell us a Scarlet.

At a $3,000 price point, no one has the right to complain, especially about silly stuff, such as wanting Nikon lens mounts. But even cheapy SD consumer cameras have AF and OIS, so I don't sse some requests as disrespectful, eventhough AF might break the bank of a small start up company that develops AF from scratch.
