Hi all!

Well, it's finally happened - this wannabe future Hollywood film director is finally going to visit the actual focus of his dreams (that'd be Hollywood, LA) for the first time ever, from the 9th to 25th April! :w00t:

I'm headed to the US on a two week visit, starting with a trip to Las Vegas to see NAB, probably from 11th to 14th (in order to attend Wednesday's reduser party on the 13th), then moving to the West Coast proper to visit San Francisco, LA and of course the aforementioned Hollywood itself!

As this is the first time for me visiting the West Coast (I visited Florida and New York as a child), I'd like to hook up with as many of you as possible during this time and see/do lots of interesting things whilst there, not to mention being happy to join in any productions you'd have me on, in any capacity.

Of course I'd like to visit Red HQ whilst in LA as well, so I'll be putting in a call once I know my rough schedule to the good people there for a quick visit if possible.

In the spirit of Tyler Durden's philosophy of life in "Fight Club" ("Just ask, man!"), I'd like to put out the call and ask that if anyone would be willing to host me for a night or two, I'd very much love to buy the beers in return, since it's always more fun to enjoy a trip with friends instead of just seeing the inside of motel rooms!

Likewise, if anyone is planning a drive to Las Vegas from LA I'd love to share the gas/driving/motel room etc. I know I can fly there but since I'm seeing it for the first time, driving would allow me to see much more I think. That said, if you're a pilot and plan to hire a Cessna etc for the trip, I'd be down to help share the gas/flying in that case too! (I have 2000hrs and my ATPL from my previous career as an airline pilot!)

I'll be bringing my Canon 5D MkII and lenses, and will be taking lots of photos and videos of the two week trip. If you want a capable shooter on your team for a few days (can handle a Red as well obviously!), I'd be more than happy to work with you!

So West Coast peeps, sing out here or send me a PM if you'd rather do it privately, but any and all comments, suggestions, offers and other tips are gratefully accepted and I promise in turn to share all my experiences and live life to the fullest whilst there!

I can't wait!

Cheers from Tokyo (for now!),

Paul :)

Thanks to those who have PM'ed and emailed so far!

A couple more questions specific to Las Vegas and NAB - can anyone recommend a good, cheap motel to stay at whilst there? Or otherwise, is anyone interested in sharing a larger twin share room or the like?

Cheers,

Paul

The Ramada Inn (About a block from Bally's in Vegas) I got a deal of $40 a night.

Wow, that's perfect! Will check it out right now online!

Ketch, really looking forward to it!

Cheers,

Paul :)

OK, Ramada seems to have no single rooms left, but they do have a twin double-bed room for $109 on Sunday night and $79 each night after that. Am looking to stay 10th to morning of the 14th. If anyone is interested in going halves on that idea PM me soon!

Cheers,

Paul
