  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WOW! At AENY last night they demoed Adobe's new color grading tool AWESOME!!!

CS5.5?! Wonder why it´s not called CS6... Sounds great anyways! Are there any hard facts regarding this floating around? :)
Wouldnt be the first time Adobe releases a *.5 version

Mo,

That is because so many people drink the Apple Koolaid and refuse to accept the idea that there are now alternatives to their editing software. To this day we are asked to conform all our r3d to Prores because it's the only way they can edit RED footage in FCP. I can't believe how many companies are not taking advantage of the RAW workflow. Though lately we have successfully converted a few companies/clients into abandoning FCP and switching to CS5 on their Macs after we demonstrated to them the power and flexibility in working in a native R3d format. ;)

And honestly, Premiere Pro and FCP are so similar I don't see how a talented editor could not easily use both apps and switch between the two of them. We do it all the time!

Maz,
I do use a huge range of software on all platforms, It's obvious that Pr and FCP are very similar, but, as you said the Koolaid drink effect is very strong for most people.. one a day, a producer asked me to suggest an editing system with detailed specs so he can buy, I made him a few choices including FCP and Pr, he wasn't wanting to listen to anything I was trying to say about cons and pros of all systems.. you know what he did? he went on his phone asking a lot of well known editors,, what would you prefer working on? all editors answered the same.. stating that they have choosed the most pro platform.. so, he looked to me like: who are you to say something else? of course I didn't say anything except yes FCP is the best, told him good luck and walked away..
this story got alot of other details that shows how people walk on with just hype and not knowledge but its too embrassing to post..

So true and so sad! :001_cool:

Maz,
What workflow are you using in CS5 for color correction? Does Color Finesse in AE work on the raw r3d files? Thx

Hi Brad,

Yes Color Finesse does work in AE and R3d. Really any AE/PPro plugin works with R3ds. Color finesse is a good tool and we do use it along with the other built in color correction tools. But I HIGHLY recommend using colorista II. It's simple to use and yet a very powerful color grading tool.

Yes there are hard facts, but those knowing are bound to an NDA. All will be revealed by NAB.

so it's all a joke ?

Could you please be serious and give a direct answer ?

Can you imagine if people act like you , giving random info ?

And again april 1st end on april 1st... Writing lies like this on others days make what you did very silly ...

Again hope is not a joke , but if it is , say it now please

Yes..very tiring..cause this Adobe one shows up every year...usually posted by a colorist/post prod. person.

For camera usually you will get a Canon guy..Phillip Bloom posting about a new RAW Canon
video camera with matching Canon cine-primes. Wake-up....Red has already done it.

Double tiring...yawn..wake me when this foolishness is over. Maybe by May or June ?

hahahaha 2 years Really. that is Funny. the suite as a whole has not seen an update for years. Do you remember the last time DVDSP was Updated. the name says it all. "DVD" are not these Blu-Ray Times?
Well, leaving people with outdated software for about two years, is a problem in itself.. for me, I can't really rely on such company for keeping me up with the market..
the good thing about CS5 was you just install it on the same machine that were running CS4 and you'll see a huge difference in performance.. apple kept selling you generations of top of the line silicon and most expensive hardware, and their software never unlocked the true hardware capabilities.. why in the world you would put 32GB of RAM for using an application that will run out-of-memory even that you've paid enough for making it not to do so.. and you know.. in my country, people (including top of line film editors) are still in love with FCP and they would never change it.. for one reason, they know no other application and can't continue their careers if they've changed the software.. that said, apple is selling the outdated FCP until today not because it is a good app, it is because people most think that it is a pro app..
and we users, simply accepting this, and are happy with our fancy new MacPro towers.. thanks Adobe for allowing CS5 to work on mac..

EDIT: one thought, wonder if apple released the new final cut with no major performance improvement? I tell you, people will grab their cards and buy it in dozens.. just for the sake of glory..

Checked out the Colorista II tutorials...looks very powerful. Thanks!

the new FCP will put CS5.5 in trouble.. they just solved most things than just picking requests that are sometimes fixed and sometimes not..
this the first app from apple that really amazes me!

I got to witness X at SuperMeet.
The real winners is us ;)
We have so many great choices and it only gets better!
