  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

WOW! At AENY last night they demoed Adobe's new color grading tool AWESOME!!!

All this reminded me of an Italian movie actor "Fantozzi" whom I really like.. In one if his movies he burns his house, after learning that his uncle Lazzarus past away and he is the one who will inherit his fortune.. But things changed dramatically.. His uncle came back again from the dead..
You can watch it in this link..

Let's hope that nobody did the same to his Hackintosh after reading the Ranibow news..

Fantozzi is a classic!

Although the first 2 movies of the series were more a vehicle for black humor that could be used for social considerations to the simple collection of "scripted jokes" like this one.

It must be true. April fooling on april 2nd is too stupid.

If this is a joke , it ain't funny.... so I hope it's not, well I can think of a million reasons how it could turn out pretty sad for plenty off people who just might have spent a fortune on Lustre, Scratch or others and are reading this post and causes heart attack...

so if it's a joke , please pick a nicer one next time... if not thanks a lot for sharing

Apple better get their act together - and quick!

Well, leaving people with outdated software for about two years, is a problem in itself.. for me, I can't really rely on such company for keeping me up with the market..
the good thing about CS5 was you just install it on the same machine that were running CS4 and you'll see a huge difference in performance.. apple kept selling you generations of top of the line silicon and most expensive hardware, and their software never unlocked the true hardware capabilities.. why in the world you would put 32GB of RAM for using an application that will run out-of-memory even that you've paid enough for making it not to do so.. and you know.. in my country, people (including top of line film editors) are still in love with FCP and they would never change it.. for one reason, they know no other application and can't continue their careers if they've changed the software.. that said, apple is selling the outdated FCP until today not because it is a good app, it is because people most think that it is a pro app..
and we users, simply accepting this, and are happy with our fancy new MacPro towers.. thanks Adobe for allowing CS5 to work on mac..

EDIT: one thought, wonder if apple released the new final cut with no major performance improvement? I tell you, people will grab their cards and buy it in dozens.. just for the sake of glory..

Mo,

That is because so many people drink the Apple Koolaid and refuse to accept the idea that there are now alternatives to their editing software. To this day we are asked to conform all our r3d to Prores because it's the only way they can edit RED footage in FCP. I can't believe how many companies are not taking advantage of the RAW workflow. Though lately we have successfully converted a few companies/clients into abandoning FCP and switching to CS5 on their Macs after we demonstrated to them the power and flexibility in working in a native R3d format. ;)

And honestly, Premiere Pro and FCP are so similar I don't see how a talented editor could not easily use both apps and switch between the two of them. We do it all the time!

Maz,
What workflow are you using in CS5 for color correction? Does Color Finesse in AE work on the raw r3d files? Thx

Yes it does. WIth a cuda card you can also use the built in 32bit color correctors in PPro.
