  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

...and it's...well...AMAZING!

The first thing you will notice is how small the Epic is. The second thing you will notice is the nice mass it has to it. It doesn't feel lightweight at all. Not heavy but not light either. Just right. Hand grip is sturdy. The menu design is a breeze. So much easier to navigate than a Red One. Touchscreen is utterly amazing. SSDs are a dream to shoot on. They format super quick and ZERO dropped frames. Super slick looking too. The BOMBEVF is da BOMB. Everything about it is beautiful. It's such a gorgeous design. Well crafted. The titanium mount is like butter. 5k is awesome. My 18mm looks a lot wider and angular now. I get a clean image out of 6400 iso!!! Way better than any camera I've ever seen in low light... 96 fps is badass. The ability to switch up framerates on the fly is even more badass. This thing is so slick. I wasn't able to get out to NAB last year to play with one so this was my first time and I am beyond floored. I mean... a 5k machine in the palm of your hand that does 120 fps and HDRx? Crazy times we live in. I feel like this camera is from the future...

Special thank you to Sam Druckerman for being so gracious and letting me play with your new super sports car! If anybody needs an Epic-M in Los Angeles, Sam is the man with the toys I'm so jealous!! And a special thank you to the entire Red team. This camera is going to go down in history as THE game-changer of all cameras.. What you guys crammed into this little box is beyond astonishing.. I'm humbled

Rick,

great news!!!

Btw, did you make any footage test especially @ 6400 ISO to bring home that R3D file and look at your computer?

Maybe you could share that with us, other Epic hungry poor guys & gals :001_smile: ...!!!

I did Sanjin but way too busy right now to touch it, let alone process it... I'll get to it soon though.. From what I could see off the monitor, the noise reduction at 6400 ISO is incredible. 2000 ISO looks so damn clean as well! I didn't think the Red MX could be topped, but I was sadly mistaken.. This camera just rocks..
