  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red iPhone apps?

Hey all,

Just thought I'd keep you in the loop with my iPhone app. I just passed my MFA degree yesterday (about time...), so I finally had time to re-work iSee4K for version 1.2.

It should be available in 1-2 weeks (whenever Apple approve the new release.)

New features:
* re-designed look (slicker, more RED like)
* all inputs are saved, so no more re-entering values every time you close it.
* no more small grey text
* new reverse storage calculator
* extra awesomeness.

It is still free.

For those interested in filmmaker tools on your iPhone, there's a new site called Handheld Hollywood you may wish to read:

They've just posted a comparison of the various timecode slate apps that may be useful to a lot of you.

Is it still around?

I just finished building a storage calculator and DoF calc as a native app for the iphone called iSeeRed...
... but then I went to upload it (with the intention of distributing it for free, and found out Apple want $99 from me to give it away for free on their store (the only way to download apps to the iPhone).

Seems like I wasted my time.

Here's some screen shots though.

You can change the value of your iPhone Application as you see fit. One week have it for $ .99 cents and another week you have have it up for $ 4.99 or just have it free and gadge it from there as you have. (you'll never know unless you try).

Ed,

Just downloaded and donated. Unfortunate that only a handful have donated, given the number of downloads from the App Store.

You might consider a $1 or $2 purchase on the App Store. I'm a cheap bastard, but so are most people. I like the app, and I'm sure I'll find it extremely useful in the days, weeks, months to come, but I have a hard time paying more than 4$ for an iphone app. And at 4$, is better wipe my ass for me.

I think if you had a price in the 1$/2$, you'd probably only get a few hundred purchases instead of 10k downloads, but you'd have still made a little more than what's been donated so far.

My suggestions, expand the application, using the same apps to support a variety of formats/cameras/sensors/etc. I can think of a lot of people who would find the same application valuable (at 2$ maybe even 3$) for HDV, MiniDV, P2, etc, 1/4", 1/3", 1/2" 16mm sensor sizes, etc.

iSee4K in the App Store

Hi,
I've tried to get iSee4K in the App Store and it seems like this application is not there at the moment. Does anyone know why?
Thanks

@Ramesh, Thee are several director's viewfinder type apps. Of course, they can't simulate the same optical properties of the larger sensor in HD (and cinema, especially) cameras. The app can simulate the AOV/FOV, but will not be able to account for or represent many wide FOV situations for focal lengths shorter than what is possible on the camera. It can be pretty restrictive. :(

@Michal, I believe iSee4K has been pulled since it's no longer being developed/supported.
