I have just built a very stable pro coloring rig using resolve. Now I am finally ready to purchase a monitor i have had my eye on for over two years. I am searching everywhere for an HP LP2480zx Professional Display. They seem to be out of stock everywhere, which leads me to 3 questions:

1. Does anyone know of any DreamColors in stock anywhere?

2. Does anyone know if HP is updating the model, or any details on that?

3. Are there in other pro monitors of similar quality you would recommend if the dreamcolor proves to be too hard to find?

Many Thanks RedUsers. :cheers2:

MD

Flanders Scientific is coming out with the LM-2461W 24" Native HD 10 bit monitor with support for DCI-P3 and 3Gb/sec HDSDI for $4995. With the HP you will end up spending around 3.5K for a monitor and adaptor that is not a true solution. I would go the distance and get a better solution that can also monitor interlaced footage for a more varied grading environment.

WoW!! FSI monitor 2461 looks fantastic. Now does it really stack up to all that it says? Who makes the panel? Is it really that good? Liking what i see so far on the FSI page...anyone have a real life experience with the 2460 and 3g?
Andrae?

I currently own the 2460 and it's a great monitor. I've done some 10 bit gradient ramps in FCP to test out on it... it passed. Did all kinds of color testing in Davinci Resolve in Rec709 mode and I like the color accuracy. What's cool about FSI is that they calibrate the monitor with a high end Spectroradiometer for you AND will recalibrate it for you for FREE over the lifetime of the monitor... just ship it back to them. You can't beat that. They are like RED with the firmware updates too. A real breakneck eager company that is completely focused on getting us pro tools in a monitor... that's all they do. The service is out of this world.

Just got back from a visit with Andrae and had an opportunity to see the 2460 in person at his studio. Very very nice monitor. Andrae told me about the FS company and I am sold on who they are and what they do. Will be picking up one of the 2461's for myself. Thanks again Andrae for the time it was fun.

Mike,

It was nice meeting you and having a great conversation. Can't wait to treat you out the next time you come back down. I'm happy that you are grabbing the LM-2461W too. I was so happy to find out from Walter Biscardi that the new model was coming out.. heck the official press release is not even out yet (coming out on monday). Also glad that I purchased the LM-2460W less than 30 days ago... lol. Things are just moving so fast in our industry to keep up with everything. Without passionate and informed friends I wouldn't know half the story.

Wow, the first Reduser from Green Bay! My home town... grew up there and attended Preble High School Class of '82. Lots of Van Laanen's in GB

GO PACK!

Hey Tim, Glad to hear from GB'ite, Abbott Pennings class of '75 here. Yes there are a lot of VL's in this town. Looking forward to shooting in Door County this summer/fall with a new Epic.

Go Pack!!

I still have one for sale as well. Make me an offer.. It sits on my desk.. I just want to get rid of it.
