Before using the RED ONE camera I had broadcast cameras which essentially had the lenses mounted 24/7. As the zoom lenses I used covered most of my shooting scenarios there was no need to change them, and it did not seem to damage the lense (or mount).

With the RED camera I remove the zoom (RED 18-50mm) in most cases at the end of the shoot or during transport situations.

Given that the 18-50mm lense is not a particularly long or heavy lense, would it be advisable to keep the lenses mounted before and after shoots (providing there is no Matte box attached directly to the lense)? The RED PL mount looks very solid, however I suspect vibrations and jarring movement may cause stress to lense elements when the lenses is not removed and transported with the camera. Has anyone had a lense / mount damaged when transporting the camera in a well cushioned travel case?

Thanks.

I agree, keep the lens off while traveling.

If you are traveling and dealing with security though, you should keep a lens in the case with the camera in case you are asked to demonstrate its operation.

Right now my favorite PL mount lens for that is the Duclos/Tokina 11-16. Its an SLR sized lens, and its designed to be treated like a typical SLR lens gets treated- much more rough and tumble than a PL cine lens. Its also cheap as PL glass goes.
