Asking $2800. The lens was purchased in 2008 and has never been used; it is in completely new condition. This is the original 300mm (not the "Pro" Prime). Which, according to RED is mechanically and optically identical to the newer version:

The original also has the advantage over the newer version in that it's got a built-in support ring.

PM me with offers or email me at kwboom@gmail.com. Located in Los Angeles and prefer to sell locally for cash but can accept PayPal or wire transfer and will ship if needed.

You should keep it! it's an amazing lens. I also bought one in 2008 and rarely used it until recently. Then I went out and shot an entire short using only that lens and now I prize it. Before you flip it, go shoot an entire 5 min piece with it :-)

How much are you selling the red drives for?

I don't mean to crash your sale thread, but just for correct information. Your thread is listed as selling the PRO version, and while identically optically with performance etc, the build and mechanics are different and are improved in the PRO version over the base model, hence the price difference. But definitely the optics are exactly the same and it is a great lens! In all honesty, i should have bought the base version instead of the pro as it is very good, nothing like the 18-50 or 50-150. Apologies again to crash your sale thread, i just thought it was right to point this out.

Did you bother to click his link to Jim's post? Jim said "The original 300mm lens is exactly the same optically and mechanically as the new Pro 300mm. The new Pro 300mm has the new "Pro" ID to match the 18-85mm zoom and RPPs. And we finally get to make a little money on it. The original 300mm is certainly not "un-pro"."

Hi Brigham, my apologies for the misleading thread name. When I originally started the thread, I was waiting for delivery of the lens (it came with a camera package) and I was under the mistaken impression that it was the "pro" version. I've tried to change the title of the thread, but apparently this isn't possible. I've even written the reduser administrators, asking for them to change the thread title but did not receive a response.

As far as the substantive content of your remarks goes, like Shawn, I'll defer to Jim regarding the relative merits of the original versus the pro 300mm prime.

Yes Shawn, i have bothered to read a lot about the lenses as well as owning all of RED's lenses (bar the 17-50mm) at some point. I have also read and been told that the differences are more so in the build of the lenses but was under the understanding there are slight mechanical differences. And i have used both and can pay testament to it. They are the same optically and i have read there were mechanical differences but this may be pertaining more to the build of the lens, but between the two i did notice what felt like differences as i was fortunate enough to have both set up side by side or two R1's. This may have come down to the feel from build differences maybe, i don't know, but the PRO felt better for sure. So yes i have bothered thank you.

Kyle, apologies for crashing your thread...not intentional and in no means meant to be disruptive. If i had known at the time i would have bought the standard 300mm over the PRO version as it's fantastic and a lovely 300m in general. I only really meant to point out the total (which is no big deal) as i was looking for another 300mm for a second kit. Anyway, apologies once again to the slight derail...good luck with the sale!

Cheers...
