  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Wish List for new Creative Suite

.34 Since Adobe is a good partner with the Foundry more than just working with Redcine-x
we would love to be able to use Storm as a complimentary tool to CS5. I personally have not fully tried storm out, it was very unstable initially. It looks like a promising application. Adobe XML out to many other apps requires FCP as an intermediary. I think Adobe should work with Storm (and others including Smoke) to make Adobes XML directly useable.

35- It would be great to have a kind of background preview renderer in Premiere Pro. You just assign the work area to some footage on the timeline and Premiere renders them in background, while you are working on other clips. It would be a good thing even for After Effects, but Nucleo can also do it for you.
It would be very useful especially for CC when using Color Finesse, Looks, Colorista Neat Video and other plugins which are not supported by the Mercury Engine.. This solution could be a very good alternative to realtime rendering, which of course would be better, but not always possible..

Timi, the idea is clever, but, this is a comporomise, Adobe already built a new platform for 64-bit, which requires the plug-ins to be re-written.. why not to give a chance to plug-in develpers to re-write it for realtime GPU mercury playback engine..

Colorista II realtime ability rests in the hands of Redgiant software making it CUDA capable.

I wish it were that simple. There's no CUDA pipe available to 3rd party effects in Premiere Pro. But aside from the bottleneck issues (which are real), that's OK, because it's not the case that CUDA has some kind of exclusivity on realtime GPU operations. Colorista needs to be at its best whether you have a CUDA system or not.

Luckily for all of us, Adobe has been working closely with Red Giant to make Colorista II as awesome as possible. Improvements are being made on both sides.

Awww! Stu you made my day!
Thanks for stopping by.

This is great news.

Stu, would it be possible to have a look to make Colorista usable [at least] with a wacom tablet?
Working since 20 years with tablets, and switching to a mouse for CII adjustments is a little bit annoying (and pretty oldschool - isn´t it?)

thanks for listening

Well they can't really comment on Features they are working on.

hope you're in working on part, but, I think they can by even saying work is in progress, many of these features were raised long before the release of CS5..

A few of these features will not be released the way we expect them. Adobe has a way of Adobelizing functions, sometimes in simpler more advanced ways, other times you wonder what they are thinking.

For Premiere:

- A keyboard shortcut to select (not just mark) the clip the time indicator is currently over. This would allow me to easily copy and paste effects onto clips as I work along the timeline :)

- Color Management like AE where we can select which working space we are in and what we are outputting to. This would be quite helpful (though I imagine the backend of making this happen could be pretty huge)

- Multicam with more than 4 clips. 8 would be fantastic but the more the merrier right? :)

I agree with Adobelizing things, mercury playback engine was all Adobe Idea..

one idea I had about re-connecting media issues in ppro.. I don't know how applicable and useful this is but maybe..

creating a database of all types of media that are available on a given drive.. this database might contain only two types of entries.. one is a unique file code generated from the file, that each time this file is processed to go in the database the code is the same.. the second entry is path..
premiere pro projects deal with media using this code recorded for each clip.. when a media is offline, a quick search by the code goes through database to re-connect the media, then if the media is not present at the database then needs to be update..
an update function is required, it search again for media for a particular path or drive and file code and path entries are updated..

hope no one laughs if my idea is stupid or based on a bad knowlege of how code runs..

The other big thing that needs to change in Premiere, IMHO, is the ability to quickly edit Source Settings from the timeline. Right now, as far as I know, if I want to RAW color-correct a certain clip in my timeline, I have to look at the file number and literally sift through 30 clips in my Media Bin, then right-click the R3D file in the bin, to get to the Source Settings. Or am I missing something?

right click then show original in project panel

right-click on clip in the timeline windows, reveal in project..

Thank you Adobe for taking care of feature request #12
"12. dynamic link timeline Audio into Adobe Audition (soundbooth is terrible). OMF to audition and Protools works very well I must say"

Saw this the other day thats great news. What happened to Audition? It didn't disappear but it just seemed like Adobe neglected it and invited Soundbooth into the fold instead. Soundbooth always felt more a prosumer level app that had limited functionality.

I always wished they would bring back shortcut for unlinking audio. I know you can move audio (temporarily detach it) but often you are deleting sync audio after cut is in place.
