  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I am putting together funds in order to purchase an epic package. Reading through many of these threads is quite a daunting task so I would like to be corrected if I am wrong.

If I am a new comer to RED what procedures do I follow in order to purchase an epic. Presumably an epic-x seeing as the epic-m is hand made and I cannot purchase one?

If I am not attending NAB will I still be able to place an order?

Finally, based on the price of the epic-m I see
Here ($58,000) I am gathering roughly the same amount.
Is this accurate?

not attending NAB, its assumable there will be orders able to be placed online or email in, details will be clear at NAB
EPIC-M is open to all but it's not certain when you will get it, you can definitely purchase one though, need to email in for that one
EPIC-X is for Stage 2-3 and S35 is after, 28K for body and so on, more details at NAB

Yes - you can order by email at NAB. You will have to wait until the orders of all existing Red 1 owners are complete (end of the summer? Ha) and you will pay a lot less than Epic-M - only 28,000 for the body. You will need, however, to factor in quite a lot of other gear, such as batteries, handles, rails, viewfinders, LCDs etc. Have a look at any R1 package here to see what that entails.

So as a new potential epic user I should just order the epic-x as opposed to the epic-m. The main difference is the way it is manufactured.
 
Hi William,

All will be made clear before NAB. You will be ordering either the EPIC S35 or the more affordable EPIC S.

EPIC X refers to a special package only available to current Red owners. It is a package that contains the EPIC S35 and some accessories.

I heard the potential way to get even remotely close to getting an Epic before it's Christmas time this year is going to NAB. Do you think there would be a way for someone at NAB to take an order for someone who could not make it for financial and schedule reasons?
 
Wow thanks. I'm sorry. I'm really new to this whole thing. I'm a cinematography major in college. Just trying to make my way in the world. Haha
 
So... when Epic ordering is opened up at NAB, is that Stage 4? I wasn't sure if the NAB ordering was still just for current owners or new owners. When is the Lease-to-Owner stage? LoL

Hi,
According to JIM , EPIC - X booking will be taken at NAB 2011 but all bookings done at NAB and all Stage 2 , Stage 3 of existing Red One owners and bookings done at NAB(in that order) will be delivered by Summer end ie techinically Sept end 2011.
