Hi everybody. I have a problem with my R1 (not MX).
I noticed today (looking at some footages on mac) some black dots overimposed on images... I supposed there was dust on the lens... in front or rear... but at the end I discovered they are on the sensor... I rec some seconds without any lens.... and this is the result!!!
I attach a pic....
What can it be?!.... I tried to clean the sensor, without any success....

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!......

Thanks

Michele

You are not cleaning the sensor, you are cleaning the OLPF.

If you have not already, contact RED technical support via RED.com Contact Us page.

At first when I read this I thought "oh it has to be a dead pixel" but when looking at your image I thought my screen was dirty at first.... that definitely looks like dirt on the sensor. Like Brent said contact RED support and hopefully they'll help you get that nasty dirt off your sensor..

I have never had that problem with our Red One cameras but I recently had to clean our Phantom Flex. From the image that you posted it looked similar to what I had on the Flex when I cleaned it.

Got the same. I user a sterial cleaning balloon (like for ear cleaning from a drug store) and made some short "winds"...after one blow it was gone...
Don´t use "hardware" or chemical air...this often damages the surface.

Hope this helps...Alex

Dear Alex, thanks for your reply. Please, can you help me... I don't understand well what is "sterial cleaning balloon"... if you can explain me better, or send me a link...
I try to solve the problem using a little blower (smaller than this one http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/3764292/Leaf_Blower.html) for short winds... but without success... I'm so afraid this could be sensor burn instead of dust... RED told me to send the body to UK to check... But if I'd solve the problem by my self it could be great... I'm near a production, and I can't stay without my RED....

PLEASE!!!... give me some feedback!...

Thansk

Michele, do you have a sensor loupe or anything that you can use so you can clearly see the dust on the OLPF? It's going to help you a lot in checking the dust on the OLPF. Next would be to get the Sensor Sweep or a similar product. You charge the brush by rubbing it on the supplied emery paper which creates static elctricity and picks up the dust. It took me a while before I actually got rid of the dust on our Phantom Flex. I also bought sensor swabs along with an Eclipse Cleaning solution as advised by the people at Vision Research.
