  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I've been intending to check it out, just have not done so yet.

Purchased!

i'm Andrea Monzini and i work as Final Cut Pro teacher and iPhone/iPad Project Manager.
I'm waiting for my scarlet when it will be available.

I am working with Red One footages for some iPhone and iPad projects. ( some friends and collaborators work with Red One )
I think in particular that iPad is an ideal mobile device to distribute videos.
We have realized also 2D and 3D games for iPhone and iPad and we can manage of course all type of media: videos ( embedded or in streaming, windowed or full screen ), animated image sequences synced with audio, Xml DataBase, in App Purchase, 2D assets, 3D assets and all iOS Api.

If you have an iPhone or better an iPad i could also send our projects to try them. ( magazines, 2D/3D Games, etc..)
Just send me the UDID. (Iphone iPad Unique Device Identifier )
If you don't know how to get the UDID i can write a simple guide.

In general we realize personalized apps and usually we assist clients to open a personalized App Store space to distribute their apps without monthly payment.
In fact we work on personalized projects.
I am available to value projects and eventually realize rapid Apps prototype.
Of course i will provide a quotation for the final Application.

Thank you,

Andrea

PS: i saw this post casually because i check Reduser news almost everyday ;)

Today i have more time to test properly the application.
The short movie is really good, i appreciated in particular behind scenes contents!

The only problem for me is that the streaming playback is quite slow, it takes very long time to load the entire movie.
Alternative choice could be to load the contents inside the application.
Of course the application will be much more heavy. ( i think is a choice ).
I think also it would be very nice to see now an iPad optimized version too ;)

If someone is worried about App piracy i suggest the "In App Purchase" model.

Bravo Alex Ferrari bravo! True pioneer.

Who hosts and supports the bandwidth on the streaming?

The more popular the film the more there server will get hit hard.
How does that work with cashflow?

Here you can see an old example project ( we have improved it a lot from the first alpha shot in the video ):

I'll have to check this out. I'm definitely interested in any info you can share once your reports come in from Apple. I'm working with some people on a project right now and we're considering distributing this way.

One other tidbit to note, Apple specifically does not allow one to distribute video or audio content or media direct through the app store. Essentially they don't want the app store competing with iTunes media sales. However, streaming apps are just fine, even if the app is designed to only stream one single piece of media -- as this one currently does. Or if there are interactive elements or other aspects of the media that warrant app store distribution. Such as distributing a short film with multiple endings that the the viewer can choose, I guess.

I would think distributing through iTunes media would be far more desirable and would reach a larger audience. Was this considered at all? For the above-mentioned project I'm working on, the reason why the client is shying away from iTunes media distribution in favor of approaching it through the app store is because Apple still has a total strangle-hold on who can publish through iTunes. Of the approved publishers that we have found so far, who would be willing to publish this to iTunes, they all want way too much of the proceeds... But I think many are being stand-offish at this point because we're not much past storyboards and concept art right now. We shoot in October.

Good luck with your film!!!!

Update, the app really didn't work, but I tried. Always got to try!
