  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bladerunner Sequel or Prequel announced.

It ends with Deckard coming back to find Gaff's calling card, implying he's coming for them...

It's an interesting thought, though I never took it that way. It seems to me that if Gaff wanted either of them, he could have gone in and taken them. Instead he left the indication that: Yes he was there and chose to do nothing. Dekard is replicant. Neither of them have much time. You see to me, the gum wrapper unicorn is a pass.

Your interpretation is certainly valid. That is why it's one of the best endings ever.

I don't care much for the shot of them driving off together. It is exactly the kind of chicken shit corporate interference that makes me dread another film.

I think the ending may depend on which version of the ending you saw...

Original theatrical release, or subsequent Directors Cut/Final Cut?

Very different endings and meanings, in my opinion.

Good point. There have already been enough versions of the original film. No remake please.

It would be more interesting if they did a spin from "Soldier" with kurt douglas. it was based in the same universe.

but if Riddley Scott is gonna do this prequel or sequel, I'll have some faith in it. This might be the film he decided to do on 3d epic over Alien Prequel.

Than again Riddley Scott might be losing his touch... ::cough cough robin hood cough::

a) This story has been told
b) There are enough good sci-fi stories left, unused for movies
c) They will screw up the theme with a crappy empty story, relying on past fame, FX, fancy art direction, and Mickey Mouse grading
d) 3D will screw up the viewing experience of ambience due to width viewing limitations and most probable schizophrenic editing

There are so many short stories or novels from P.K Dick that can be adapted to share the same characters and themes, but with different plot that Blade Runner.

It would be a shame to simply do a sequel or a prequel. It would need a whole new story arc, not an explaination of the first movie...

And Blade Runner Babies... WTF

...

That's my interpretation - and IMHO it's the coolest one!!

On a Dick related note - Watched The Adjustment Bureau today. Gotta say I really loved it. Perfectly done. Couldn't fault it. Recommended viewing. Really well played out storyline, nicely written, perfectly acted. Winner all round. Preferred it to Inception, even though Inception was big and full of effects. Adjustment fulfilled me equally. I prefer character driven stories anyway and Adjustment was all about sci-fi character, complexity and an actual dilemma for the protagonist (for a change).

Pshaw. Make remakes. Lots of them.

Be honest - wouldn't you guys *love* to take a crack at remaking Blade Runner? I know I would, with all the reverence and respect I have for the original informing my decisions going forward.

Lucas

I'm late joining this thread for reasons that Lucas is aware of :-)

Hell yes!

I'd love to have a go!

After all Jordan Cronenworth used a lot of Citizen Kane as visual influences so he really wasn't totally original.

I'd love to have a go at taking it further, after all I've stolen from BR in a lot of commercials and a couple of films already!!
