Dear Red team

Since now epics are being released in to the wild, when we going to see operation guides available on the support site?

other camera manufactures manage this even when it's at prototype stage. They even have included a online menu simulator too so that when we are using the camera for the first time have the best head start.

would this be something red is working on. I know alot of us would be delighted to have this.

Thank you in advance for you response.

I agree that it would be nice to have a "head start" in learning how to use the camera, but I can't imagine that RED would post a guide this far in advanced. I would expect it to pop up around NAB, when we can place orders.

People have already placed orders and are receiving their cameras.

so not really a head start just asking for a user guide to be put up on the website like every other equipment manufacturer dose on the release of there product.

So far... everyone that has purchased and received an EPIC has not needed a manual. :-)

The Epic is very very easy to operate and navigate through its menus.

However for those prepping to work with it, some sort of manual would certainly be helpful. The arri app for the alexa, letting you get the run through on the menus, is an interesting and good idea. Not sure if something like that would be needed for the Epic, but a menu map would be great.

We had to dig around for a few moments to find the relative shutter option, yesterday.

Manual coming...

I don't need a manual... just lend me an Epic for a week and I'll learn that way!! :001_smile:

A manual will be nice eventually - but I found the user interface and menu layout to be very intuitive - especially for someone who has used Red One menus. There is naturally more menu categories and selections within them than Red One - but there's really no rocket science involved in quickly learning the menu layout, button functions, and then just getting out to shoot with the camera. I just jumped right in and started searching menus and pushing buttons - and I guarantee you nothing ever melted down :-)

The way cool thing I love is how quick the LCD touch screen is for navigating to/from menus and changing the settings on the camera. Also, if you have the Side Handle, LCD, and Redmote on the camera you can navigate on any of those three accessories to the menus to change settings on the camera. If the LCD isn't on the camera, but the Side Handle is, you still have two ways to quickly get to and adjust the camera - the Redmote and the Side Handle.

A manual will be handy for checking out all the functions of those advanced features of the camera you may rarely use - because when you do need them you have to know quickly what they do, how to get to them, and the best way to use them. But for everyday routine use of Epic anyone who has used a Red one will be up to speed very quickly - and it won't take anyone who is at least relatively experienced with other non-Red cameras to get going well in a short period of time.

Don't let using Epic intimidate you - its relatively simple to use, is very intuitive, can be setup and morphed into just about what ever you want it to be, it won't bite you, and is really a joy to use :-)

An iPhone app mimicking the menu structure would be sweet.

Simulator

Simulator

Second the Iphone app idea.

Arri did an amazing job by offering the online Simulator for the Alexa - an App you can have anywhere would be even better. It would certainly ease out the familiarity when the camera arrives en masse.......

EPIC Operation Guides....LMFAO. Non of the Features starting on Epic have them.

Why have that when you have human Bomb Squaders to hang out with?

I was genuinely surprised that the Epic comes with a human being. Talk about expensive accessories.
