I have been given a 3-4 month wait for buying a set of UltraPrimes if I order them today. Does this seem about the norm?

Depends were you order form Peter, time frames for orders form Italy are much shorter, and I am offered Sets of UP's all the
time, I just have no interest for them so I don't keep any, only MP's for me, ;) but let me know what you are looking for an I'll
keep an eye out for them.

Ketch,

Thanks much. We have 10 sets on Spiderman for our Epics and 3D rigs and I quite like them.
I'm thinking of slowly buying a set for my Epic, mostly for personal use. Since I live in Paris some of the year do you think I can find them easier there?

Cheers,

Peter

Most welcome Peter,

yes definitely easier to find in Europe then in the US as the demand is not as High over there.

But I wil keep an eye on some god sets when they come buy and let you know, I just had two set as new offered to me
last week, will call today to see if they are still available.

Just let me know if you are looking for the LDS ones or not, you can also shoot me an email: ketchrossi@ketchrossistudios.com

So your opting for UPs in the end Peter...good choice. I guess you have grown comfortable with them on Spidey...I say go for it, what an incredible versatile personal set they would be. How much to buy one at a time (ballpark figure?)

I was looking at some footy over at OffHollywood and although I have not worked with them as much as MPs...I loved the look and it made me consider them as well. There is now a version with lens data correct?

Any word from RED if they will suppor arri lens data? LSD or what ever its called.

they are about 12-13k per lens according to the abel website. and I'm sure they get more expensive on the wider end like the 8R.

but you can pick up a pretty wicked 8 lens set for under 100k, opposed to a 5 lens set of MP's for a touch over 100k.

obviously mp's are better but UP's are awesome too :)

Simply put, they are both awesome Glass, but there is no comparison from MP's to UP's sorry...

Now the new Leica S-C glass might give MP's a run for their money, will see.

Apart form the obvious T1.3 vs. the T1.9, T2 and T2.1 speed of the UPs, there is just the BUild and Focus ring that it is a world
of its own vs. by other lenses ever made.

Now will see how Leica plays out in the market, but again the UP's are fantastic Glass, very small and light weight a big plus
in today's world of smaller cameras such the R1 and now the EPIC, however I don't mind size and weight at all, and for this
we are testing the MP's for our ATOM 3D rigs ;)

Ketch,

Not really looking for LDS set. They are a little bigger than the standard ones. And not sure if any PL mount for the Epic will support the Arri lense data system yet. I would assume eventually but that is simply an assumption.

Again thanks,

Peter

Cool Peter, one of the two sets offered was standard with the 95mm front diameter, I think asking was 76k,
need to see that offer again and which lenses were included.

Will be buying a second set of Master Primes for 3D work so possibly I can get a better price for your Ultra Primes ;)

You can buy DSLR lenses at similar focal lengths for prices from $500-1,500-odd, which produce, as far as I can tell, perfectly sharp images.

What is it that Master Primes give you that is worth ten times (gulp!) or more what a DSLR lens costs?
