Will FCP64bit fill the color grading, audio syncing, editing and pseudo realtime efx gap like Smoke? or will Adobe step up its game fill in those gaps and squash the rebellion? If you have noticed Adobe has not released Redgamma2 redcolor2 even though it was confirmed by our own Dave thats it was complete. And Dave did hint rhetorically about a color-grading app from Adobe. I know Adobe will not release a full new suite at NAB, which would make sense, (I wouldn't either. I'll just wait for the competition to release then top them). but its inevitable they will release a whole bunch of updates with goodies thats their style. As for the FCP64bit announced jaw dropping awesomeness, its now the most talked about expectation for NAB. I'll be buying the New Macbook pro just to check out the light peak thunderbolt feature.

What do you guys think?

I'm not expecting anything from Adobe till at least Q4 of 2011. For any updated release to really be worth it and also to be relatively bug free I would not want that expediated either.

I'm sure you agree that CS5 was a stellar release, and righted many wrongs from CS4. CS6 could really knock it out of the court, especially for REDUSERS. A look towards grading would be enough for me as CS5 truly is an excellent line.

In respect RED presets and codecs this could be implemented in an update rather than wait for a new product release. I don't see it being something that necessarily would be held back, do you?

FCP looks like its on the right path, which was a worry to many for a while. I've never really been a fan of FCP but did like Shake and do like Color. I wouldn't personally even think about switching from Adobe for the most part.

as long as it runs on an iPhone or iPad... apple will be all over it :-)

Seriously, I hope Apple wake the "%$£*&" up and realise Pro's need tools not toys
(... yes there are 2 currencies in that swear word :-)

Hey shashbugu, where did David hint at a grading tooll? I must have missed that. I thoroughly love CS5 like Tim, and if I could do it all within one suite, that would be killer...no need to build the Hackintosh for DaVinci!

He did not necessarily hint it directly, All he said was they know its needed its just hard work, which in geek speak means someone is working on it, this was in reference to a light room style grading app.

honestly speaking if you figure out CS5 its actually very powerful, they don't necessarily have to create a whole new grading app just the platform form plugin manufacturers to build some tools. for example

1. a built in 2D tracker,
2. better floating point LUTs, vector-scopes, and histograms that go beyond just broadcast level, like color finesse test gear
3. a--have the transparent video layer work as an Adjustment layer with a drop down checkbox window targeting the layers below it or as a parent to other layers
b--- theses adjustment layers should also be layers you could send to after effects, or photoshop and can retain effects or correction information allowing the clips linked to it to be editable without doing that in after effects
4. masking and bezier matte tools
5. have the Interpret footage screen be a tabbed panel or just appear in the effects panel
6. allow for a render and replace footage dialog, where by all clips on a time will be rendered in an intermediate format or codec of your choosing and re-arrange themselves on a new timeline.

on the Audio side, better implementation of vst3 and AU plugins,

Apple at NAB????

Apple at NAB????

When did Apple start to attend NAB Again???. I think there will be no 64bit FCS till Lion. if it is, it will be lame, just like the last update. why don't they just fix what they have first and release the next version when is ready. but I mean READY. for instance is it not ridiculous not to have audio from motion projects in FCP?. Fix Compressor, ETC. just my 0.02 Cents.

I see no reason why they would need to wait until Lion. FCS should only need a new version of Quicktime and that shouldn't need an entire OS upgrade...

This is a bit of a silly thread... Future Apple product we know nothing about vs. future Adobe product we know nothing about!
Well Im hoping their both working on that Network rendering 2GB file limit bug first :P

It is said that the next QT needs Lion in order to be 100% functional. so if there is a FCS Release it will be with locked features until lion ships?. if true it will be yet another half enchilada just like the last update.

Ha ha Stephen LOL! it is a stupid thread. We are so happy with Adobe we have very little to complain about on here we might as well speculate.

.7 Audio auto sync
.8 Audio SMPTE sync
.9 Mackie control surface support
.10 Avid MC control and Tangent wave support
.11 fix Dynamic link for ppro subclips in AE
.12 dynamic link timeline Audio into Adobe Audition (soundbooth is terrible). OMF to audition and Protools works very well I must say.
.13 the VST and AU plugin support is very important. For industrial and quick docs sending audio out is very redundant. There are some great clean up and channel plugins like Izotopes RX, Ozone and Nectar that are solid for broadcast audio.
.14 version 5.0.3 has proven to be a little unstable, especially if you accidentally drag a clip during playbackg. (crashes) Tried this on two different systems. Never happened in previous versions.

more to come

.15 Adobe Onlocation should be updated to work just like Atomos ninja. Using a Mac-book pro or similar PC you should be enabled to record directly to QT, pro-res or any 10-12bit codec from a live stream.

.16 the ability to collect used clips to a new project with converting the clips to an intermediate format for exchange with other systems.
.17 Database based project that doesn't require autosave interruption..
.18 Native 3D stereoscopic support without the need for cineform..
.19 getting RAW debayering tabs like ACR and RED tabs inside effect controls instead of pop windows..
.20 real full screen mode for editing screen..
.21 putting more processing on GPU.. inlcuding wider range of effects to be GPU accelerated also encoding and decoding media to be GPU powered..

Hi Mohammed, I thought about you recently when all the news on CNN was focused on Egypt. Glad to know you are in good spirit......
