I know this capability has been discussed in the past and my understanding is that Epic WILL support intelligent PL mounts.

Today I got an "announcement" from ZGC about the Sony PMW-F3 about supporting /i technology, and it reminded that we haven't heard anything lately about RED supporting Cooke /i data or Arri LDS data on Epic lens mounts. (unless I missed it)

This feature is critical for anyone doing FX work and now, 3D workflows.

What's the status? Will the standard PL mount support both formats? Or will they be separate mounts? Sure would be nice to have it integrated into the standard PL mounts so everyone has access to the data any time they want to use intelligent glass (besides still lenses). This would include all Cooke /i compatible lenses, Master Primes and LDS Ultra Primes.

Any info appreciated.

"Announcement" below:

The Sony F3’s PL lens mount incorporates /i Technology™. That means if you use any Cooke lens with built-in /i Technology™, this marriage of technology will simplify production, post and effects work.

With lens data for every frame, /i Technology™ helps 3D setup and speeds production with continuous display of serial number, stop, focus, iris, zoom and other lens information. All current Cooke lenses incorporate /i Technology™: 5/i, S4/i, new Panchro by Cooke.

Looks like the F3 has pins for both LDS and /i data on the PL mount.

That's what I'd love to see on Epic.

I was just having this conversation with Ketch and I agree it would be a major bonus to continue /i support for cooke users.

Mark there are some contacts for /i data on the epic now? Perhaps just not enabled yet.

If you are asking me if there are /i data contacts now, I don't know. I don't have my Epic yet. That's the OTHER Mark Pederson. ;)

I and others have been lobbying for both Arri and Cooke systems to be supported way back when on Red One. I remember a post from Jim saying that they would be on Epic, but that was some time ago so I am checking in to see if that is still the plan.

Jim or Jarred,

Anyone from RED...

Can you reply to the thread? What are the plans for Epic regarding lens data support?

Hello?

Jim, Jarred, Brent?
Anyone care to comment?
I'm feeling a bit ignored here.

It's a simple question, and important feature. Seems worthy of a response.
