  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Appropriate recognition for Mr. Jannard?

If a member of SMPTE or AMPAS will be willing to submit a nomination, I'll be happy to draft it. But, I think it would be better if we could create a small team here to work on this. I doubt I'm the most qualified, but my mom says I have "the gift of gab" ;) . In the mean time, I'll see if I can find some successful nominations to start from.

I think there must be an Oscar category he could fit into. "Builder" or "Innovator", or something ....

I think a net worth over $1,000,000,000 is pretty good recognition.

At this point in his career, I assume a little gold plated statue pales in comparison to watching the next batch of movies open shot entirely in 3D on your vision for the future of cinema...

He and the Red Team is well past due for several little gold statues, however we know the love of cinema and cinema production is what keeps them up late and on this forum while other companies simply clock out ...

PS... Don't ever go public, just license your old tech to Canon/Nikon and keep pushing forward!

I agree. It shouldn't be hard to write up an application and get some of the industries luminaries to sponsor/endorse/submit it. If it was about the money for Mr. Jannard and Red, I think a lot different decisions would have been made (see his comment about the decline of his net worth during this development).

The deadline for a technical Oscar nomination is probably August. I'll see if I can get a draft for comment up here before the end of March.
