Hi gang,
Some of my RED footage is not transcoding properly (or at all) in Redcine-x. Some of it is fine (so that narrows it a bit). Sometimes I can see the thumbnail in the browser window, but when I transcode it comes out BLACK. I've tried transcoding the same clip in FCP Log and Transfer and the footage comes out GREEN. BTW - The proxies for these files look fine. Furthermore the color settings look fine (I read about gamma at 0, etc...) Today I tried learning REDundead, but with no success. Can I use REDundead with a regular external drive? Or does it have to be a RED drive? Also, I am flirting with a company/ software called "Treasured". Has anyone tried that? Thanking you in advance. Please help!

Josh,

The proxies are ok most likely because proxies are smart enough to jump directly to the correct location in the R3D for the frame data it needs -- ie. it doesn't have to read the file header of the R3D. RedCine-X can do no such thing. Send an email redcinex at red dot com detailing your problem, and, if you can attach an R3D snapshot of a problem file or a link to one of your R3D files we can look at.

David
