Can someone please provide some guidance as to where I can find the SDI BNC cable to connect the ET Breakout box to my monitor which only has a DVI, S-Video or VGA input capability. Tried lot of googling but could not find a cable that would allow me to connect the two.

Any place selling these in Canada would be even more helpfull.

Thanks.

If i'm understanding you correctly, there is no cable to do what you want. You need to get a downconverter like an AJA or Blackmagic box to go HD-SDI down to DVI.

Thanks Gents, that means none of the O/Ps fm the breakout box can be connected to a monitor without going thru another convertor? I am talking the consumer style off the shelf monitors which will accept the usual HDMI/VGA/S-Video/RCA/DVI inputs.

You would probably want to go from the HDMI port on the Red to a HDMI monitor or convert that to DVI connection.

I have one of these boxes that I use when needing to downconvert: http://www.decimator.com/products-decimator2.php

Works great, under $600 I think. You can get them from Image Gear in Toronto. Talk to Mike at 416.923.7432

This is what I would suggest, but there are caveats:

I use an HDMI cable to an HDMI ->DVI adapter, then into a Dell monitor. It gives you the full on-screen display you get with the RED LCD. Just beware that it's neither 720 nor 1080... it's some weird resolution with a different aspect ration due to the info display that a few of our Dell monitors support, while others refuse to display anything at all, so be sure to test it before you go into the field.

Followed the above recommendations so my current setup is BNC out from ET break-out box via 50ft good quality cable to AJA Hi5 and the HDMI out to a TV. The TV is full HD 1080p with 120 Hz refresh rate but for some reason no matter if we use the 720p or HD-SDI output from the breakout box the screen goes blank every few seconds and then back on again. Same thing during playback too. Played around with jumper setting but still same problem!
Anybody else have similar issues using the same setup? We could probably use it like that but its just so annoying!
