Advice for a brand new RED owner?? Any help is appreciated!

I just received my RED One MX and am doing my best to put it to work.

Is there any advice that I could adhere to? Anyone that is staying busy, has ideas etc...

You can see my camera and gearlist at www.redmxrental.com just in case it would make a difference in anyones ideas.

I appreciate all advice and ideas, I gotta pay this thing off asap! LOL

Sorry for the vagueness in my thread!

I was looking for advice in keeping busy with work. More or less I would love to hear from anyone that has any suggestions in marketing myself and the camera.

I have read the manual and am currently taking the online FxPHD courses on RED workflow, production and post etc...

Joshua, the best advice I can give is to build, build, build up your reel and make as many films as you can showing your skills and creativity. Your red one is your best asset in that regard. Shoot as much as you can, get to know the camera better than anyone, and find stories and people to shoot that enthuse and invigorate you.

Yeah. i'd watch out for this one. I own shotonred.com and can't use it because of this.

One thing I did is get connected with some DP's that might want to try it out. In my case it lead to rentals.

Also I shoot my own projects on it.

Thanks for the advice guys! I think getting connected to some DPs is definitely the smartest way. That's what I have been doing, along with just spreading the word about the camera and work etc... I'm glad to see you guys have confirmed I am going about the correct way so far. Thanks!

Get connected to producers - the DP can usually put a word in, but the DP won't actually order the camera or choose the vendor, usually.
